top triple bolt spacing
«

Question for the knowledgeable out there: is the handlebar bolt spacing on the top triple the same for the S2r/S4r with Magura tapered bars the same as for an older monster, eg 2001 750?
Not sure if this question should be better posted in "Tech" or here, but I'm giving it a shot.
Thanks!

i believe it is not. the tapered bars are, i believe, further apart. The bar diameter is obviously very different: 22mm to 29mm

Talking with IMA - the offset between the "top" holes, and the "bottom" holes, (further and closer to rider), the 22mm handlebars will be approximately 32mm apart, and the tapered/conical/fat bar riser spacing should be around 38mm.

Thanks to all who replied!
By the way, I've been googling and found a company (GenMar) that makes risers for Monsters and other bikes. They have two different risers for 2002+ risers (model D-103) and 2001 or earlier (model X-103). I emailed them asking about the differences and they confirmed as well the different bolt hole spacing.
What I found more interesting is that according to
their page
, risers for the 2001 and earlier monster will fit various other bikes: Triumph, Yamaha FZ, and more. So I am assuming that risers (and possibly handlebars) from these bikes can fit the monster, meaning possibly more cheap parts if needed.

You bet. Lots of handlebars out there will fit.
"Fat Bars", such as the Magura Bar, the Rizoma Conical/Tapered Bar, and the Driven CF bar will work. Lots of dirtbike bar options out there. 22mm at the grip ends, and "29mm" at the center (typically 28.6-28.8mm).
The fatter bars seem to vibrate less in my experience, and are a little more robust if you should... lose the battle gravity.
