Have you guys seen Cafe Racer on HD Theater?

It's a great show.

the next fad in motorcycling hits the mainstream in 3..2...

I don't see it hitting as a fad. As cool as they are, they are also, generally, back breakers. The fluffy 50-something set who can happily tool about on their 'custom' for a day would be crippled by the posture needed to ride most cafe bikes. Hell, I might not survive long on one...

Michael you got link to where one can view the episodes? I could only find listings for when the show was going to be on the telly.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.
- '00 M900S with all the farkles

saw it last night.  i love those bikes, and the builders have amazing creativity.
i hope we're finally moving on from the cookie-cutter 'chopper' fad.  welding
countless little functionless doo-dads on your bike ... interesting as art perhaps,
but not for riding.

Interesting concept. Hope it sticks around for a few more episodes.

More importantly, young people are returning to "craftsmanship", using their skills and inovation to create that which is truly unique.  I found it interesting that one garage already had an "intern" and was learning at the hand of current young masters.

Even Norton Motorcycle Company was brought back to life by a young man with a vision to make "hand built" units.

Yes, Cafe racers are not comfortable.  Never meant to be.  How comfortable do you have to be to race for 3 minutes or to the next Pub?

I for one, applaud the acomplishments of the next generation of indie builders [clap]

got it programmed into my DVR.  saw the last two episodes and enjoyed it.  cool show that gives an historical viewpoint as well as a look at the future focused in the United States.  love the look of the bikes, but sat on a Sport Classic and knew immediately that the riding position is definitely not for me.  only wish that i had younger bones.

Ciao!

whats funny is I just got a CB350 for free, yes free!  then all of a sudden this show is on.  Kinda perfect timing to be into this Cafe' Racer craze.

Currently getting the motor running (which isn't much) then its Cafe Racer time.
I live vicariously thru myself......

Awesome show! I love to see all those beautiful old bikes resurrected again.  HD Theater is becoming one of my favorite channel.  I only wished they make more "Twist the Throttle" episodes.

I've been into Cafe's for many years.  Mad Max got me into it.  My CB400F and CB360 are both cafe racers, in name only.  I take my car to D&D.  I'll guarantee that if this show takes off, like the chopper craze, I'll be branded a trendy or fad follower and when the trend dies out I'll be "old hat". :P  I'll have to post some pics soon.

This. No matter how uncomfortable they are, there are gonna be people that buy into the whole style just to be part of the next "in" thing.

As cool as it is, this show kinda bums me out a little. I've been kicking around the idea of building a couple cafe racers for the last year or so. This is most likely gonna make it harder to find CB's at a decent price anymore.

It's so not PC, but this comment on posted Youtube vid made me laugh. No offense the HD riders of the DMF:

QuoteGreat, Now we are going to have a new faggots with HDs putting on cafe seats and clip ons and spending 4 grand on cloths trying to be cafe racers

I'm with ^that^ guy. I'm all about craftsmanship and ingenuity and the fact that there is a younger generation of people willing to get dirty. But what makes the cafe cool in my mind is their ambiguity. It's like kissing your sister, awesome that they've been dug up and inspired some folks to get creative but couldn't they have done a documentary on I don't know playdough or lincoln logs.
