"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Mine fit perfectly where my emissions canister dealio used to be.  Very unobtrusive.  The relay was routed near the base of the fuel tank, I believe.

Pay no mind to the funky coloring in the pics...not sure why, don't care.  Snapped them just fo you!

Hope it helps.

On my M696 I crammed it in behind the shroud where an oil cooler should be but isnt....

But since my M1100's oil cooler lives in that location I was stumped for a place to mount a Nautilus.... until I dumped the airbox... So it lives - much more vertically orientated - in the vacated area under the tank skins... nicely out of sight.

I mounted mine in this area as well, but tilted the horn down because it is not supposed to be mounted on its side like that. they say you'll only get about a year out of it by mounting it that way. outlets are supposed to be pointing down.

Stebel's installation instructions are pretty specific:  The compressor ought be mounted within 15 degrees of vertical.

Out of necessity my 696 was somewhat outside of this. Not sure I'd mount it horizontally though.  But then Dezmonster's 2 year field test does seem to indicate that compressor orientation doesnt matter a damn.

Same place on my bike... but vertical... using the stock mounting bolt. I didn't have to fab anything.

Any ideas on how to mount to a M1100.  I have an oil cooler so the 696 idea would not work for me.
