That is not true. I bought my 821 last year and had the Termi race kit installed before I picked it up. It was included in the sales contract.

Your dealer did you a favor. The exhausts which are MADE in @&%$@ornia can't even be sold there since ~ 2013.  Cool Where you been? CA riders have been visiting Nevada...  Cool http://www.dealernews.com/dealernews/article/california-enacts-un-sound-exhaust-law

Been living in California since 2013. Bought the bike in San Diego in Sept 2015. Purchased the exhaust and UPMAP as part of the bike sale. All on paper.

I know what the law says, but this has been normal practice even since that went into place.

FYI, Triumph and a few other manufacturers won't even ship "off-road" stuff to CA. A dealer caught installing the stuff is subject to $$$ fines. You got lucky. Be happy and be quiet.  Wink

Uhh, pretty sure I could walk into Ducati NB and buy whatever high priced Termi exhaust I want.

We had laws prior to 2013 that allowed the police to cite for loud or modified exhaust. This law didn't change anything.

No clue what DNA may have gotten approved for use in CA. This 2013 law relates to tampering with emissions. OEM's selling Arrows and V&H as accessory exhausts have had the db-killers tack-welded. Easy enough for the owner to defeat but then you have to deal with a non-OEM tune.

Go ahead and ask CA Ducati dealers what impact it may or may not have had. Other brands can't get and will not fit aftermarket. Not worth the fines.

We have had anti tampering laws for decades. I cited for them in "special" circumstances. Nothing has changed here. I stopped at DNB today and can buy anything I want. Dealers don't get fined BTW. The end user would.

GP in san diego got fined big time for installing performance parts
as part of new bike sales if i recall.  but at the same time i see
performance accessories up on the wall.  maybe they can install stuff
if its 'later' somehow, and not part of the new vehicle process.

First I have ever heard of a dealer getting hit around here. But yeah, likely if you ride away and do the install on the first service it's a better idea.
