Looking for a machinist in the area, ideally within an hours drive of DC in case this project turns into back-n-forth.

Failing that, anyone have a drill press and/or metal lathe?

I will be replacing the forks on my 696. From what I've gleaned from various posts here and on TOB I'm looking at possibly:

- Boring the top triple
- Shimming the bottom triple
- Shimming the axle, and
- Shimming a front rotor (or both)

What forks are you putting on? SBK forks onto a monster used to require adjusting only top and bottom triples (unless they had different caliper spacing from your stock ones).

Well, lot's of options that will work with some shimming. But, ya, I'm shopping used SBK. Regardless, I need a machinist to work with.

Nothing? I might have a line on a guy at RnR Cycles. Does Duc Pond do this kind of thing?

DP is a little out of the way, and I expect their rate will be higher than a generalist. But I know it'll get done correctly I suppose.

What'd you say about my Momma?

Try Cycles of Silver Spring, talk to Jeremy.  (301)589-2453.  They are on Brookeville Road.

I just had a full service and belt replacement on my ATV.  The price was right with two day turn around.  I remember him speaking of machining some parts.  Not sure if he did them in house or sent them out.
