Racing Red 696 re-mapped w/Termi's & Marchesinis

« on: November 03, 2010, 05:38:40 PM »

Well, day before yesterday a good friend was badly injured..he is an experienced rider but was going too fast through a tight turn and hit the guardrail. An EMT was in the car behind him and fortunately called Life Flight on the spot and he is now in ICU in San Diego. He should be OK but has a busted spleen, broken ribs, broken back, bruised lungs and lost a lot of blood. Thankfully he was wearing a full face helmet and leathers but I can't imagine how much worse it could have been. He is being kept sedated and will have to have more surgery this week. Anyway, just a lesson I guess to not get carried away and ride pass the point of no return. Please keep good thoughts for him and all of us. He was riding a newly restored Aprillia.

It could be a while but probably good advice. Tonight he is moving toes and starting to come around so that is great news. Looks like he will mend but it will be a long time I think.

So sorry to hear about this. I was in one of those tight turns this morning and almost lost it due to speed. I got a reminder from that to chill out and your story also will stick in my head Smiley Hope he gets well soon!

sorry to hear this......
Only ride at your own speed and avoid target fixation. I can almost guarantee he thought guardrail and thats where the bike went. One must always look thru the corner and the bike will go where you point it. Never ride beyond your ability. It can be fatal.

Hi.. just a quick update... he is going home this weekend and getting lots of physical therapy. Doc's say he should have good recovery but will be a few months away. Thanks for the good thoughts.
