About to pull the trigger on a Monster - Can't Decide Which one!

Hi All..
Here's my dilemma.. I have a dealer that will sell me a brand new 2009 696 Dark for $7,000 out the door with tax, tag, title, etc.. Keep in mind that includes the warranty for 2 years.
Then I found a used one that I could pick up for $6k. It has the fender elimination kit, and a smaller sprocket.. (and those cool rims with the red pinstripe). This one has 2,900 miles on it..
Here are some thoughts.. The 2009 is going to need an oil change soon, and it's 1100 service.. This could really push the cost at the end of 30 days up, and I have to deal with the break in period.. The used one has a warranty of over a year as well...
What would you do?
Thanks!
Jeff

what year is the used one? is it up to date with its services? Keep in mind that the new one will also have to be serviced at its proper intervals which will add to the cost in the long run.
i say go with the newer one from the dealer as if there are an issues with it they will be taken care of.

First service is 600 miles, next service is 7500 miles. First service is anywhere from $150-250 according to other posts. I paid $180.
You may be close to getting new tires on the used bike too....something to think about.
I would go new to be safe, never know what someone else did to the bike, longer warranty, and dealer relationship that could help you in the future. Maybe ask for the first service to be included or discounted, or ask for a discount on upgrades you would purchase such as the fender eliminator.
I know my dealer has treated me well in this area. I was offered discounts on riding gear and upgrades with initial purchase and I now have a relationship with them that they still offer this to me whenever I ask. If I ever had an issue with service, it was corrected quickly. That is worth buying a bike from a dealer to me.

The new one - including tail tidy, rim stripes and first service (INCLUDING new belts which are up for their two year limit in a few months).

First service, fender eliminator, and front sprocket are cheap. Unless it's a full termi system, then don't let those mods influence you.
RE: the wheels - are they stock? Aftermarket wheels can be very pricey - if it's got a good light-weight set, maybe this is worth it. The pin-striping is cheap (just reflective tape).
Is the used one in a color you prefer?
All things equal - I'd take the new one. Extra bit of warranty and peace of mind.

with the age, you'll probably have to replace the timing belts about the time for your first service. have them throw the belt change into the purchase

Yep, sold the S2R.. Wanted to go new.. I'm one of the few that likes the new body style personally. I'm also clinically indecisive..
Well, the new one is 350 miles away, so the inclusive service idea doesn't really work too well.. So, There isn't a service incentive really available locally.
The used one is a 2009..
Here's another one that just sparked my interest:
2009 696 dark
2500 miles
FULL Termi exhaust
$6300 (but I'd have to ship it so it comes out to $6800)
That's fairly tempting as well!
Thoughts?

So really at this point what makes sense then, is:
A) Brand New 2009 696 out the door for $7k. - stock, no incentives other than on price.
B) Used 2009 696 Dark with 2500 miles with Full Termi exhaust out the door for $7300 (really $6300 but factoring in tax and delivery)
Not sure.. The Termi is a big draw.

I change my vote for the Termignoni Dark.
Is it the full under-bike version? With the Ducati Performance ECU? That'll bring an even bigger smile on your face.
With some warranty left, I wouldn't worry about the miles, but I would try to get the seller to change the belts.

Dunno if I'd buy a bike off eBay, dunno if those Termis are slipons or a full kit, probably slips. Dunno if I'd trust ole Gabor up in Shitcago. Dunno if I'd care to have a 696 now that the 796 is out, and has proven to be an all-around better bike. Dunno if I would have sold my S2R which is known to be a sweetheart of a bike for a new one, considering they run just as lean and will require even more $$$$ to get them running properly.
However I do know M796 FTW (if we're talking only
new
Monsters). I'd wait for a good deal on a better bike. Resist the temptation. Riding season's just about over if you're not in CA or FL or AZ anyway. Good deals are to be had over the winter, especially if this economy continues to tank as it most certainly will! Deep shit we are in Padawan.
