IMO, two standards should be mandatory:
The owner needs to be a DMF member
There needs to be something special about the bike

i would like to add:
Needs to be a Ducati. (Not necessarily a monster,IMO , since a few really slick projects have been born from other models)

My reason is because of parts interchangability....like an SS swingarm on a monster, or a Monster tank on an SS. These types of specimens are what creates our unique class. Monsters will still out number other models.

Bolt ons?

Custom job?

It doesn't matter to me: I've seen examples of both that look like shit, and examples of both that look fantastic.

I just like reading their stories and feeling the enthusiasm from the wide variety of riders we have on the forum.
