This is (horribly) unbelievable. Just when I thought that people like this had (thankfully) vanished from the world....

POSTAL WORKER FILMS CUSTOMERS CRAZY RACIST RANT

Even worse, I read that the mailman was fired by the Postmaster and that the woman who had to appear in court was let go without any punishment.

[bang]

The depth of ignorance and stupidity here is outstanding.

'I'm not prejudiced but...'

- The white people will kill him for not doing what she says? Oh my...

*sigh.. poor guy was just trying to do his job. If it's true he go canned, that's a shame. She assaulted him and she gets off? What the hell...

He might get some trouble for recording it w/o her knowing - depending on the state laws there. But doesn't relieve her of trouble for f'ing hitting the dude who's just trying to do his job. She signed for it - he cannot take it back.

That sort of crap hurts my brain and make me sad for humanity.

I think my fave is her claim that black people killed MLK... wow she's just a loony. There any news coverage of this?

Not that I've seen as of yet, but the video is going viral so it's only a matter of time.

Well, i hope he doesn't get in trouble for filming it. There was a case in this area that got pretty big with a motorcyclist filming a LEO
Details here
http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=41719.0 Rather different circumstances than this, as the biker had a camera in the open (helmet mount), so filming it w/o her know could be trouble.

But, I hope that things get put right. She gets her troubles for hitting the poor guy and he gets his job back (with a different route)

and here is a dreary reminder that "white"

It is a federal offense to interfere with the delivery of the mail. I'm shocked that nothing happened to this woman who obstructed the mail. I checked snopes, but no one has posted anything on it as of yet.

Bullshit, this guy isn't a victim.

He filmed the lady without her knowledge

He was playing a martyred antagonist and made no effort to leave the situation or resolve it.

He knew the situation was going to escalate by his continued inaction and he let it escalate so he could film it.

This is the human equivalent of poking an angry dog and acting all shocked when it bites you.

I'd have fired him too

Don't you think that you're making an awful lot of assumptions?

1) He is quite clearly not a US native - you can tell by his accent.

2) If my first point is correct, the way in which he is experienced and accustomed to handling confrontations may vary significantly from the way that you or anyone else might deal with them.

3) Yes, he filmed it without her knowledge - if he felt that film was his only protection then he used it to that effect. Besides, who's going to voluntarily be that racist on film??

What if someone else had recorded it without her knowledge, say someone on the street corner, would that have been any different or any less admissible??

4) It IS a federal offense to obstruct mail delivery - and assaulting a federal officer/employee is that much more of an offense.

And not being a native excuses his actions or more importantly his inaction?

His inability to resolve conflict, regardless of nationality, when part of his job is to interact with the public does nothing but demonstrate his incompetence

If he felt he needed to film the situation to defend himself then informing the lady of his action would have deflated the situation because you are right, she may very well have not voluntarily reacted the way she did had she known she was being recorded.

i don't think she has any reasonable expectation of privacy out there on the street.

I'm not sure that incompetence is the most accurate way to describe his actions (or lack there of). If you consider the possibility that his native socio-cultural dynamic may be significantly different, then the way in which he chooses to resolve an issue is also that much different.

That much doesn't make him incompetent.

Makes you wonder though that if he had told her he was recording if she would have beat the crap out of him right then and there. That woman is seriously whacked-out.

I'm sorry but you are completely wrong.

The guy has a job to do and there are rules he has to follow, as a worker you should know that its not in your right to break rules that you are legally required to follow.  You may want to to defuse a situation but if its not in your athorrity to break the rules then you should not break them.

that lady was completeyout of line, she signed for the letter then didn't  want to take repsonsibilty for the screw up and go back to the post office to return it.  it was omcpletey her fault.

the guy was doijg his job and she didnt' have to sign for it but did.  he doesn't have the authority to then take back the letter and say it wasn't signhed for it was.  simpel as that.

she was then mouting off and then threaten the guy and you would fire the guy for keeping his calm.  that is crazy.
