I just switched the oil on my motorcycle with Rottela T 5w-40 synthetic oil and a K & N filter. The bike started fine yesterday but after I changed the oil today it would not start. The bike just makes a clicking noise.
Any ideas?

Maybe the battery?? Charge it up and try again? Key could have possibly been left in position under "lock" where the light is on. I now this goes thru battery pretty quick.

An oil change and not starting should not be related. Well unless you did something really wrong during the oil change... But factoring that out it sounds like your battery is run down. Follow julitro and charge it up

click when you push starter button is the starter solenoid.
it could be bad or just cranky. what year is your bike?
first is to find the solenoid and tap it with a wrench on the side. 9/10 that fixes it.

Thats what I figured it was... I was just worried that somehow my bike didn't like the new oil lol. I just drained oil opened filter let it sit for 5 minutes. Then put oil in new filter put it a little tighter than hand tight. Then I pored in new oil Probably about 3.7 liters or so. It just so weird that the battery would die overnight. The first time I tried to start it after oil change I heard it trying to start but after that 1 or 2 seconds every other time it just clicks. Would it be okay if I rolled my bike down my hill in second or third gear got it started and let it charge up for like 15 minutes? |

that's taking a risk. it's not like a car. you can get a jump at the rear wheel and get thrown. yes, people do it. just charge the battery and check the solenoid. |

Could you possibly have loosened a cable/wire while you were playing around with the drain plug/fill plug, etc.? I think the starter's just in front of the drain plug, isn't it?

Charge the battery. If you want to be sure it is good, get it load tested. If that doesn't work call us in the morning.

That's a lesson I think I've learned a dozen times   It always gives me respect for how much power a motor develops when I realize just how hard it is to push a bike up even the slightest hill. |

Thanks guys I just checked all the wires under the bike and by the battery, and a wrench to the solenoid and the bike fired up. When I first bought my Duacti it had a leaking tank and I needed to get it drained so I could try sealing the tank. I had to get it to my house from my gf's house. I figured how much gas could the bike possibly use to go 2 miles with no traffic. 1 mile later and the bike turned off and I had to push it all the way home. It was like 50 degrees and I was dripping sweat.  |

Solenoid can get even a tiny bit of corrosion inside and it will stick. It may never happen again or it could be the first sign of part failure.
Remove, clean and retorque with elec grease all your wire as well. The grease will go far and help immeasurably.

Well I went to go for a ride last night and as I was pulling out of my driveway the bike just kinda died. It would not start again after that. Any idea what would make it do that?
Also how exactly do I take the cover off the solenoid?

Is the battery any good? The first thing I would do is pull the battery and have it load tested. Any auto store should do it for nothing.
