Greetings from Chi-town!  This is my first post on the board here, but have been lurking for a while.  Just purchased a red 696 about a week ago (pics to come), and decided it is time for the first post.

I was wondering if any 696 owners out there were able to find the short tail kit for there bike, or know where to get one.  The local dealer has told me that it won't be available till the fall.

Has anyone ordered any 696 parts from ducati.com?  If so, have you received them in a timely manner?

Just looking for some options, as that plastic P.O.S. hanging from my fender needs to go!

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

Have you tried this place?..it's where I've been getting all my prices.  They have an add to cart button, maybe they'll have more info.

Congrats on the new bike!

I inquired with Commonwealth about the short tail kit. They said the same thing my local dealer did, that the short tail kit is not currently available. Please let us know if you find somewhere to get them.

Cheers,
Owen

How is that kit supposed to work.  It seems like the lock for the seat is located inside the piece that needs to go.  Huh?

Looks to me like it replaces that whole plastic fender bit (which includes the part with lock storage).

The 696 is very 'integrated'.

IMO, 696-specific parts are going to come slow, and be expensive.

as always with anything new on the market parts come slow.
It has just hit the shops here the 696 that is.
And the only things we have prices on are the pipes.
$2100 for the Carbon Termi kit, pipes, ECU plug-in and filter.

I have heard that the eliminator will be the same $200 for us as well, but no idea on when it will be out.

Wowzer, that is expensive! In the US we have much cheaper prices on the pipes - visit my site for reference: http://www.ducatiperformance.com/monster-exhaust-systems-c-15_239_240.html

Most of the parts are out from Ducati Performance, but still no tail kit. We have received almost everything else though.

Yeah, but you gotta remember we are a small market so price goes up.
Then there's import taxes and the usual 500% retail mark up.

After that there is the fact that our importer NFI (whom is not much loved) has said in the past that if we buy things
new outta the states they feel it "might not" be covered under an Oz warranty even though they all come from the same place of manufacture.

Sucks, I know. That's why I prefer to buy pre-loved take my chances on a bike so I can mod the hell outta it....
