Myself as an outsider, I have to ask, as one of the biggest and most diverse country, are you guys ever going to settle your race issues? What would it take to stop the finger pointing and name calling? Again I'm just an outside observer.

It will probably take a few more generations. To my wife (She's Black) the rebel flag is almost akin to the Nazi flag, to young white kids it just means rebellion and sticking it to the man. To others the flag is very unpatriotic. I think it's in bad taste myself. I think it would take people coming to grips with the fact that all people descended from a common ancestor as DNA evidence strongly suggests. But you can only lead a horse to water.

I kinda take offense to that question, though i know you didnt mean it that way, but its the individual who has to stop hating. What if i were to tell you i met someone of your race who was being racist towards me? really doesnt matter where that person lives.

Amazing how a comment can be so smug and ignorant at the same time.  Maybe it was a rhetorical question, because I believe the answer lies within the question.  Please show me a country as large and diverse as this one... then one with no race issues?

[popcorn]

Back to motorcycles...  The Confederate name always turned me off a bit because it conjures up the image of Jim-Bob and Skeeter putting together bikes, BUT these bikes are NOT that.  I love their robot/machine industrial look.  I can also dig the "David vs Goliath" logo, small high-end shop taking on the big guys.

They do appear to have a new logo on their site, along with a new bike.

It's too bad they moved out of New Orleans, that and lack of 75K stops me from buying one.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

sort of a loaded question given there's only two countries on the planet larger than the united states (one of them being canada, incidentally).

i don't think the original question is so unreasonable. race relations in the united states is a big part of our history and still makes current news.

while 'racism' exists in other parts of the world, it generally seems framed in the context of religious/cultural diversity and/or xenophobia.

You don't think the original was a loaded question?  Obviously mine was, maybe I should have used sarcastic "loaded question" font?   [roll]

I'm not sure I understand the relevance of your last statement?

Somebody is always looking for something to be offended by.   I try to use body odor to offend people myself.   As far as the Confederate flag goes, well, to me it isn't any more racist than Rap music.    My old man was from the south.    He wasn't particularly tolerant, but he wasn't blatant about things, either.   So, some people are offended by the flag.    What about the chopper guys that wear chrome Nazi helmets?    The shape of those helmets probably offend a lot of people.    What about when someone says something looks ghey?    Because it's spelled wrong, gays aren't supposed to be offended by it?

Much ado about nothing.   And those bikes aren't "High end".   They're unrideable image machines.

As an insider who has traveled a fair bit around the world, can you name a country that doesn't have race issues?  I have never been in one.
