So keep on the lookout for a scumbag with a really small head.  That sucks, I hope they catch him.

Whenever I'm going to a big get together or something where I'm leaving my helmet on my bike, I use my old helmet...
It's nice to have a spare.
Typically when I'm going to something like that, I'm not doing much spirited riding anyway... So the old helmet doesn't worry me TOO much.

yeah same here.  if I can't get there in 3 steps, it's in my hands.  I bring my helmet backpack to shows and such and my buddies make fun of me, until we read stories like this.

If people didn't leave their valuable shit just laying on a bike/the front seat/somewhere easily accessible we'd have way less make the beast with two backsing thieves in the world.
If there were way less make the beast with two backsing thieves in the world people would be able to leave their valuable shit just laying on a bike/the front seat/somewhere easily accessible.

Even if there were way less thieves, there would still be one.

One thing nobody mentioned - the helmet tether provided 'neath the seat. Don't know if all bikes have them, but I see a lot of sportbikers riding around with helmets hanging off the sides of their bikes. If you don't want to take your helmet with you, why not lock it to the bike with whatever mechanism provided? Or does nobody do that?

didn't you see "Enemy at the Gates?"

as long as there is jealousy or desire, there will be dishonesty and thievery.   it's just part of the human condition, just like crabs, the clap, taxes, hemorrhoids and soccer mom drivers.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I have a coiled steel cable I lock my stuff up with..... It's long enough to go through my helmet and a sleeve of  the jacket.  Locked up to the bike  it's very secure.

Those of you who leave your helmet on the bike-where do you store your rose colored glasses?

Maybe it's just the clientele at the places where I choose to hang out, but I've never had a helmet stolen when I've left it on board.  Of course, I have just enough distrustfulness in my noggin to carry it with me when I'm somewhere I'm not sure about.....like the Rock Store from now on.

I have rose colored glasses, but I'm not naive enough to wear them often.  In fact, I think I loaned mine to Ryan so he'd think Helga, his new 999, is pretty.  Did he tell you he bought a 999?  Well, he did!    Grin
