Indeed, the trouble I was speaking of was the sort of trouble that makes your driver's license shiver uncontrollably when you throw a leg over

Hey guys,

I've tried the KTM 690SMC not too long ago, it's friends bike and he let me take her out for a spin. All I can say is it's probably the easiest bike to ride, you can get away with soooo much and it won't bite you if you're not the most precise rider.

It was an absolute riot on twisty asphalt. I thought the modest power output may reign in the fun but was I wrong. The front end will pop up with the slightest provocation and it makes you feel awesome, it really flatters your riding.

Pros:
Doesn't vibrate (compared to other mono engines)
Fantastic brakes
Enough power for a LOT of fun
Very light
Beautiful exhaust bark with a Akra can and fuel remapping
Slipper clutch is exemplary

Cons:
I'm broke
Tank range isn't too good

What was the tank range?

I get about 100 miles on my 950Smr

I didn't use a whole tank by any means however he said 150km is about average before he refills. When the lease is up on my F800R I will look into getting one.  Grin

Heck, I've even put up my trackbike for sale accepting a KTM SM as part exchange.

I really want one  drool

Yikes.  My 950 SM gets ~35 around town and 45 steady throttle.  200+ from a tank.

The R's have a smaller tank, and usually a more stoopider operator.   Grin

I get something around 145 miles to the tank on the SD if ridden easily.  But give that throttle a good twist coming out of every corner, and we're looking at around 110.

The operator of my Duke is more stoopider too.

Dammit.

Just what I need, another thread saying that the KTM 690 (regardless of variant) is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Because I'm broke too. And I really want a Duke. Sad

Santa?!?

I love my 950 Adventure S, but I really, really wish they'd release a 690 Adventure.

My Monster is my hooligan; I like to have a globe-trotter, too.

They used to make a 640 Adventure.  Find one of those?

You gots the bigger tank...

Mine only holds like 3 gallons. I get 2.xx in there when filling up on the gas light.

I get 40 on the open road even with lots of throttle.

Less if I hammer it in the tight stuff (32)
