I would need to find someone to play Santa. I'm only tall enough to be an elf.

Any tips for keeping the Santa hat on the helmet?

Thanks much for the tip bobspapa!
I probably would have used velcro and the hat would've ended up in the same place as my iPod controller.
A few tips for my elven brethren:
At freeway speeds that thing is like a sail. Minor head movements like checking the mirrors will really strain the neck muscles. But I have road tested the tie wrap setup and it's good to 95 mph indicated (I did 130 in an elf hat).
I saw two really bad freeway-closing accidents this morning before 7 am. This time of year people are twice as distracted as normal. And a lot of drivers that don't normally hit the road, hit the road. Be extra careful out there.
Happy Holidays!

Probably NWS....
What does Santa do during the evening before he leaves? Why, he sings carols, of course!

After seeing bp do this last year and this year I vowed to make it happen with the locals this year.
Friday myself and 7 other bikes met up and stopped at a couple big box stores and passed out candy canes to strangers.
No one hassled us, no cops, no security guards, no pregnant doging about parking bikes on the sidewalk. Plenty of parents sent their kids over and/or took one themselves. There was some concern that people would be hesitant to take candy from strangers. Some thought we were trying to make money and were surprised when they discovered it was free. But everyone who accepted one said thank you or merry christmas and smiled when they walked away. That was my goal, to put smiles on people's faces for other reason than to do so.
Seriously, shopping on christmas eve sucks. economy is crap, traffic sucks, everything is going up except my paycheck. But if I can make some strangers smile just a little bit more, it's worth it.
We did not have any santas or reindeer suits, although a couple people reindeer'd their bikes.
We were a little ambitious on our schedule and the amount of stops, and the weather being much warmer friday than we anticipated cut our trip short. Sadly I didn't get any photos.
Thank you Joel and others for the idea and encouragement.
