Best, most complete Tail Chop Kit?

Looking for your opinions for the most complete kit where what is supplied to do the job, the instructions are clear and easy to follow, and best quality kit. I dont mind spending a few more bucks for a better kit.

Competition Werkes kit from monsterparts.com. About $130 or so. Comes with instructions on where to cut frame, where to run wires, etc. Has mount for tailight, license plate (& light), and turn signals. On my '08 695 there are plastic cylinders on the underside of the seat, one on each side, that need to be cut off for the turn signal brackets to fit. Very nice complete kit though. Its the only kit I have tried so I can't comment on any other kits. I have HEARD that the "cookie1" kit ($100) is a good one though too.

i used cookie1's kit on my '00 900, and was very pleased with it.

that said, i'm not sure where he's at, following the whole DML collapse.

I just used the Cookie1 kit - very thorought, very complete, very easy to use.

I bought it from monsterparts.com.

Just bought a new Dart flyscreen from there, too.

-I bought some cheap corner/angle brackets @ the hardware store, and was able to use two sets of them (different sizes) to do the tailchop: One set to connect the light to the frame, and the second set (smaller) to connect the blinkers to the light.. I then cut a quick plate holder out of 18ga. sheet metal and bolted that to the same posts that the light brackets bolt onto...

-No template required, very sturdy, takes 15 minutes to do (not including chopping the frame), looks stock (invisible) and it's CHEAP!!

I am now making and selling a chop based on my schematic... Made out of 16 gauge steel so it's thick and sturdy...

I actually used your schematic initially chipo, and while it is very good  , the metal I used was too thin + flimsy...   I happened to be at the hardware store looking for other stuff when I stumbled upon these corner brackets and the lightbulb came on...

The Cookies1 kit from monsterparts is great I had one on my 01 M900, and my S4RS. Just be aware it doesn't have any means of attaching the stock license plate light BUT the red lense puts out enough light to see your plate, and if it really bothers you there is a Buell tail light that mounts right up that has a clear bottom for the plate light.

Yeah that happened to my first prototype as well!

I now use heavy duty 16 gauge steel, which is a beeeyootch to bend but is farking bullet proof

When I first chopped the tail, I used L brackets like you, but they turned out to put out too much vibrations and I was pulled over by a cop who couldn't read the plate 

Easy and cheap way to do it for someone who is mechanically inclined tho!

I did something similar myself - I even managed to get the indicators in the frame.

+1 cookie1 kit. great instructions, easy to do, and you can get rid of the big licence plate light. buy the $10 brake light lens from buell with the clear bottom, exact lens as stock, just with clear bottom piece not red.
