Competition Werkes tail chop instructions
«
on:
June 10, 2008, 05:24:12 PM »
Anyone have a set of Competition Werkes tail chop instructions they could scan and email? Bought a used kit, and although I'm pretty handy, want to make sure I don't overlook anything.
I'll even buy ya a beer if you're in CO!
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, that's kinda what I figured. I just have that nervous feeling about chopping the frame without some instructions written by someone way smarter than myself!

Did anyone have to bend the right side inward to kinda get it to where the nut comes out (coming from below)? I just noticed that on mine the bracket the signal is attached to starts behind the tail light as opposed to flush with it (like the left side). I was wondering if I got the defective one (from CW) or if its standardly defective... in other words, just part of fitting it in.
I guess I could just remove the bolt, bend it back, and have the bolt tightened so as to hold the bottom part only.

I had to use different mounting points on each side for the signals. On one side I used the inside mount, and the outside mount on the other side. That's the only way the signals would align with the taillight.
You'd think they would've got that right by now. Guess not.

Do you mean to say you took the part that is supposed to run vertically (with the signal attached) and laid it horizontally, using the horizontal as the signal bracket? Then there are no factory issues with the chassis. I bought a demo bike from the dealer, so all sorta things ran through my head. Maybe thinking somebody had totalled it before they transfered it or during a test drive... However, I know Italians are very good at styling, not necessarily workmanship so every factory condition could come with it kinks here and there. Just take a look at all the welding on the single swing arm on the S4R models, for example...

Not quite sure what you're asking, but the signal tabs have two holes drilled in the horizontal leg that attaches to the plate holder bolts. On one side I had to use the inner screw, the other side I had to use the outer. Does that clear it up?

I know exactly what you mean... and it means I'm screwed! The problem side has the screw that puts it farthest out. I would basically need it to be longer to have it sit like it should. Oh, well... I'll have to be creative.
