Anyone have a picture of the speedymoto belt covers on a bike? Any issues with the covers not being closed? Is there a danger of damaging the belts or anything else running open covers?

Been runnin' the MOTO'S for 2 years with no issues. Up here in New England,I only ride about 6k a year. We do have plenty of crap on the roads though.

Try finding these http://bit.ly/eSTlbE for your Monster if you're looking for another solution. Not sure how nice they look but they will keep rocks and crap out of your belts. |

I had the open speedymoto belt covers on my bike, and ran them with no problems since they released them and my farm was a 1/4 mile down a gravel road and as long as I kept the speed down to a sensible speed I was fine with no damage.  I also had the sprocket cover with no issues and ran without a chainguard. One thing I would do though is fit a case saver from (Desmotimes?) if I still had my bike.(I think that was who was making those but cannot remember for sure)I am sure one of the more knowledgeable folks here will know. |

i've run multiple ducatis with no belt covers over the last 10 years and never had a problem.
your mileage and luck may vary. if you ever got any significant gravel throw on your leg during your normal riding, then you might reconsider, but I've never had a problem.
it would take a rock at the EXACT right angle and size to land on the rolling-in side of the pulley to cause it to jump. something striking the belt will likely get tossed away.

i'm sure lots of people run it without the covers and with no problems. but somehow the one with the fail just sticks with you more. just like airline crashes. i would be a lot more concerned about some idiot putting something in there than picking up a stone by chance. i think this is the case saver mentioned above: http://www.ca-cycleworks.com/shop/catalog/ducati/img/case_saver.jpg. good idea if you put in a 14t front sprocket. |

I flew my s2r1000 off a cliff, ripped the right side of the handlebars off, destroyed the right rearset, destroyed the exhaust...
lo and behold... my belts with no covers were fine.
