I was told that the 848-1098 motor does not fit in this chassis.
So I guess they are gaining public opinion before the bigger bikes are designed.
They will also have a Matte Black and Pearl White in later in the month.

Tick, tick, tick............

Matty, I think the italian festival thing you are talking about is http://www.motoriitaliani.com/

I liked the look of the 696 up close. Red Trellis + White Tank would look neat.   I sat on one of the bikes on the showroom floor for about 15 seconds (till I realised it had a big "sold" sticker tied to the grip  Shocked ).  Feels like it might a little cramped relative to classic Monsters for taller folks.

The number plate holder/fender thing is the biggest problem that I have with the look of the bike. The problem with the standard fender is that it doesn't appear to be something that can be fixed with a hacksaw or and angle grinder.  Apparently there is a Ducati performance "shorty" version. I'm sure there will be third party custom 696 bits all over the internetz real soon now regardless.

Apparently the 696 will be available for test rides the week after motoriitaliani.

I also spotted a guy picking up a brand new Desmocidici on Saturday at Frasers. They started it up and revved to about 4K before they threw it onto his ute. The noise generated was incredible. Babies were crying, dogs were barking and every bloke within about 200 metres was drooling. Those things sound absolutely awesome.

I'm not liking the half trellis.
Suppose it's the future.
The desmosedici's half trellis is going, reports of the GP9 running a carbon fiber monocoque.

Yeah there is the shorty tail from DP performance.
Been reading on the main board about add on bits etc...
This place here has the most items I've seen for it so far.

Peter at Frasers told me the Termi pipes are about $1300 for the SS with chip and air filter
and about $2100 for Carbon, chip, air filter. Not too bad but still more than my MIVV's for $770 from memory....

$770 very well spent Matty.

The shape of those termis look vaguely familiar (although still a bit fat), I want royalties  Angry

14995 +ORC for the Monster "S"(?). It has rear cowl and bikini fairing out of the factory.
14495 +ORC for the std monster (when it comes out in a couple of months).

+ Termis/ECU/Airbox $2100
+ Fender eliminator $200
+ new mirrors (I reckon the stock ones are pretty ugly).

Feels a little expensive to me (I think they are only ~$9000USD in the US). 15K on road with termis would have been nice. Smiley

I was told $14,995 on road today for the + version which is what they are selling first here.
The Termi price is also what I was told also $2100 pipes, ECU plug-in and Filter but nothing about air box.
If that is right then yeah it's not cheap but then it is an all new bike.

I think in the US it is about $8k + ORC but some dealers are charging up too $10K on road.
We've always paid a hike in price for anything that hits our shores.
If all 20 million of us bought Ducati's we'd be right.

I don't think it's that much more than the 695 was on the road is it?

Considering its not Lerner legal ,I cant see how they are going to sell many of these baby’s, unless you are a die hard Monster owner and need to have the newest.

Isnt that the same $ as the S2R 800 id rather have that  Roll Eyes

Yeah it is that price, but I don't know if you can get your hands or butt on an S2R 800 anymore.
Last model was 2007, I'd swap for one of those no problem.
