08' S2R 1K. So I'm getting ready to do the exhaust and intake along with the ECU reflash. The cost of the K&N flat filter runs $60ish. The TPO pod kit runs $250ish. With the pods, I loose the crank case breather which has some set backs which can possibly be fixed via tuning. My first duc was a carbed 750 with breather kit and jetted. Now with an injected 1k will there be noticable issues? I do have the crank-case breather kit, but I took it off and went back to stock. The bike seemed to run better. Will pods and using the breather kit with tuning make her run shitty?

from what i've gathered, the DS1k is exceptionally sensitive about air/fuel changes.
you'd probably definitely need a tune with pods.

not really sure if the breather kit alone would harm your A/F much

scduc, i have some pod filters im looking to get rid of if you are intrested. they are teh ca-cyclework ones

.

retail is $58+shipping they have less than 500 miles on em.

ill ship em to you for $40 + crank case breather in trade?

I got rid of them cause it killed the power on my bike. Open udder + pod filters + no velocity stack to make up for it = big difference in low end. Im returning the bike back to stock, including the breather filter.

i have an S2R1k, if you want to trade let me know cause if not Duck Stew just PMed me with a set.

hell ill even throw in the crank case breather filter for your for an extra $10

He Man--- So my concerns are legit? Are you convinced that the lack of power is due to open udder, pod filters, no velocity stacks, some or all of the above? Do you plan on reinstalling the collector box along with the hoses and breather valve. I really like the looks of the pod filters, but I am not willing to sacrifice any power loss or poor running.

Heres what I know....

I ran about 5000 miles with open udder and open airbox. Then i reinstalled the udder and there was a big difference in low end. not how much low end, but where it peaked. Instead of having a punch at 6000rpm (open udder) it was much lower at 4500rpm (full stock system). I coudlnt notice any difference with or without an air lid...in power that is.

Then i ran open udder with pod filters and the bike just lost all of its punch. I reinstalled the stock exhaust and it got back some of it, but there was defintely some lacking punch. This is all lowend, i dont ride enough on the top end to know since my bike is 80% commuting.

Right now i have the stock airlid, with a crank case breather filter and full stock exhaust system and it runs great (minus my tranmission/clutch issue). However i get a decent amount of oil spitting out the crank case. It gets my pants dirty. I dont like it. I like to punch the throttle a lot so im guessing that's why. Eitherway, i thought id offer you the parts i had since im about to paypal duck-stew some moola for the crankcase breather box +hoses. we could do a trade for parts. i tossed my breather box because i was trying to connect the breather hose (that originally goes to the airbox) to the pod filters, but it was easier to just toss it and go with a breather filter.

My friend has a GT1000 and he has no oil coming out at all. so either its the way i ride, or my reed is malfunctioning. Regardless.....hmm i just thought of an idea. i could just buy a hose and run straight from the breather to the airbox and bypass the breather box altogether... in the end as long as there is a vaccum and space for oil its good....

anyway thats my opinion, others will disagree.  you can buy velocity stacks for arund $50 bucks for a set online. They come in a billion shapes and sizes. YOu can buy ones that are similar to the ones built into your airbox, but have enough space to fit the filter, or you can botch your airbox up and rig those up. but you defintely need them if you want to have the same low end power as stock airbox.
