Where to mount LED bullet lights?
«

The human (cager) eye can't easily see how fast a bike is moving, when coming directly towards them.
Our eyes need a larger surface to make it easier. I plan to enlarge my visual appearance by adding small BikeVis LED lights.
Preferably they should be far apart and away from the headlight (not easy!)
So far, the only place I can see is the forks, below the lower triple.....
Handle bars would be another option.....
If you have any input, please tell me
The second issue with these, is of course how to mount them
Their wire comes out of their mounting surface, so a small hole is required.
They are stick on type lights - adhesive tape.
I have found a small clamp, but it doesn't look very nice.... Other ideas? (I have no machining/fabrication possibilities)

I've been trying to figure out the same solution since I learned of these. I thought maybe some place on the 'shoulders' of the bikini fairing, but there isn't really a space flat enough and far enough away from the headlight to matter.
Something down lower, maybe, to give that triangle of lights that is recommended? Sides of the airbox maybe? But I don't think they'd stick out far enough.
I have stock blinkers, I was thinking of drilling a hole in the stalk and sticking them to the top of that, running the wire through the stalk.

Blinker stalks was one of my first thoughts too, but it would be quite close to the headlight.
Fork bottoms could be a solution, but an unsprung location that close to the ground?
I suppose the air deflector mounting bolts could hold a flat piece of metal, sticking out......

common place is to muont them by the forks, it makes a triangular shape and it illuminates the road, but it looks horrifying.
You're better of with a modulating headlamp. That will catch their attention for sure!

Blinker stalks is a convenient mounting point for the triangle of light.... but I hear that if you mount such eye-catching lights so very close to your turn signals, that this then detracts from the visibility of your turn signals themselves. So yeah, they saw you but they didnt notice that you intended to turn
.
How about mounting em on the end of some appropriate bar ends? Or underslung the bar ends?

He Man, these lights wont illuminate any road. They're intended to increase your visibility to others, not for the rider's better night vision. They're very small but seem pretty effective. I thought about em... but got too lazy to figure out where I'd mount em
.

Didn't think about the blinker-cancelling effect.
I know myself well enough to know that all the hassle of customizing bar ends and wiring from there = not likely
, but it is a very good idea and probably the best place for them - both concerning form and function.
What does "underslung bar ends" mean?

stick one on each side of your helmet
i think the LED bar-end type would be the biggest visual impact (oberon, kellerman)

Helmet? If they didn't need electricity - I'd be happy to put them there.
Led bar ends could be modified to be ON all the time, yes? Could add the PodMod modulator too...
The amber color might confuse cagers
Any white-LED bar end blinkers, with optional clear lens?
...hmmm... there is room inside my stock blinkers (clear lens). Still not the best position though...

i wonder, what is the viewing angle on them? If you don't need to see them straight on, that opens up some more possibilities.
other mounting point, maybe on the clutch/brake master, altho I don't think that's any wider than the turn signals.
If the wire came out the back that'd give more options too.

The viewing angle is quite wide - I remember reading so somewhere.
Probably best straight on, but I'm going to check that before I rule out any angled mounting ideas.
There's also under the electric-controls-box, but still at an angle though and not very far from the headlight.
I guess it's possible to cut the adhesive tape to allow a side-/rear exit for the wires.
*To get the best use out of these, I think the largest and widest triangle is top priority.
- which leaves the fork, bar ends, mirrors and ......
*It bothers me a lot that these lights will deduct some serious style points (what's next - a bright vest?), but I'm
willing to mount them anyway. Even though I'm very good at reading traffic - there is no protection against the
unattentive cagers crossing my path. Hitting a car straight on is my nightmare.

Beklager Lars, min Engelsk språk ferdigheter er dårlige

Mounted to the underside of the bar ends. Could be a little more discrete than on the end of em?

My Rizoma or STM bar ends could be made flat for an underslung mount, but a tidy wiring job will be a challenge.
Jeff mentioned the Oberon and Kellerman blinker bar ends. The Oberon would need other LEDs, the Kellerman would need other lenses - I'm going to look into that. Even if these were modified - they would be at a clip-on angle, which might not be ideal....

Any luck? I purchased the same thing and am leaning towards mounting them on the masters
Any guide to wiring them?
