2008 S4RS Tricolore

« on: January 15, 2011, 10:20:47 PM »

I went into my local duc shop today to have my new tires mounted.  I was killing time watching the game when one of the guys asked if I was looking to upgrade my exhaust.  I had stockers on which were cored by the previous owner and have liked but asked what he had.  Turns out a guy had upgraded and left a set of Two Brothers Racing pipes for them to pass on should someone want them.  I asked how much and he said he just wanted them gone so $50 and he would install them  waytogo

Needless to say, I am quite happy with them.  The sound is fantastic and no way I could pass up that deal!

If I had one gripe it would be the chrome as I was looking to start darkening more and more things soon (fork wrap, headlight ring and mount, etc).  I would prefer them black but adhesion to chrome would be tricky I would think.   I think I can still manage to be happy   Grin

Noyce! Sounds awesome, but you need to idle that motor up some. $50, can't beat that.

It would be easy enough to get a good flat black finish on those cans with just a little bit of work. Get somebody to beadblast them, then wipe down with alcohol and prime them with high heat primer and then some type of flat black high temp paint.

I'll bet they're a lot lighter as well.

I actually have access to a variety of media blasters at work so maybe that is something I will look at.  As far as the weight, I was shocked at how heavy the stock pipes were, these are significantly lighter.

Not that hard to paint chrome. I just use a scotchbrite pad to rough the surface then an etching primer. Grill painted mine three years ago and even that is holding up pretty well. Use a better quality paint and it should be just fine.

Congrats on the TB pipes! A friend of mine has a set on his 900SS and it sounds meaner than all of the Termi bikes in our group. waytogo
