This thread should get an award for Captain Obvious.

I just the other night joined a CB750 forum in hopes of gaining some insight on getting a basket case 750 I've aquired back on the road.  First several replies to a first post introducing myself were threats, hammering me about photos, reading the rules before doing anything, and if I was into choppong, bobbing, or cafe'ing I should look elsewhere.  No wonder that site is about as entertaining as watching paint dry.

When I bought my Ducati I took a deep breath and prepared myself to deal with a bunch of spoiled brats, self rightious jerks, and rich mo-fos.  What a huge relief it has been, and so enjoyable to find out that most Ducati riders are unique, dedicated and interesting people!  And most with a sense of humor.

Well I can say this place has been an inspiration for me.

Without this place I would have NEVER had the courage to rebuild my bike myself.

The knowledge, contacts and people I call friends all through the internet.

I've met three of my best friends because of this board. 

My Brother, Duck-Stew..  I can't even begin to describe his generosity, knowledge, and friendship towards me.

Polpetta...  Welcomes me into her home, cooks dinner for me, and then sends her husband off with me on an epic moto-adventure. At that point, she'd known me less than 24 hours.

Sac Duc...  He saved my life.  Literally.  The doctors at the hospital told me if Carl hadn't dragged my stubborn ass to a nearby fire station to get checked out by paramedics, I probably wouldn't be here to type this.
  I thought my scratchy throat was just remnants of a hangover when we decided to ride 300+ miles up to DIMBY.  Well, I had come down with tonsillitis, the bacteria had gotten into my blood and my body had gone septic.  My tonsils were so swollen, they were pressing on my brain stem, causing uncontrollable shaking.  My resting heart rate was 140+, and I had a fever of 103ish.
 I probably don't need to mention that he slept in a chair at the hospital, then rode 300 miles home, packed up his 3 dogs and his wife in their SUV, and drove all the way back up the next day, slept in his truck with the dogs, and then rode my bike another 300+ miles home while Polpetta drove me home in the SUV. He, like his wife, had known me less than 24 hours at the onset of the trip.

Mr.Incredible and Mother...  Drove 90 miles to pick my sick butt at the hospital, never having even met me before.  Dave rode my bike back to his place, while Jacob drove me.  Poor Dave is like 6+ inches taller than me, and with the clipons and rearsets on my little monster, his knees were up by his ears!   

bobspapa...  this guy is generous to a fault.  I came home one day to find a package from him on my front porch.  Inside was a framed picture of me in full reindeer getup on my new Duc, and a brand new set of smiley-face knee pucks!  Every year he dresses up as Santa, and rides around handing out candy canes to local kids and families in his hometown.  Not for money, recognition, or anything other than it makes a lot of kids happy.  Is it any wonder that the members of the DMF (when it was DML) built him a motorcycle as a wedding gift?

Okay, so that was more than three...  I was never too good at math... 

  There are so many more people that I have become friends with because of this board. Whether I have met you or not, I count you as friends.

This place, my home away from home, is truly wonderful.  Thank you one, and all!

I didn't share that build anywhere else, just wanted to put something back for what i've got out of here!

....because, no matter what you want to do to your bike, someone can give you quality advice, talk you through it, and/or professionally do it for you at a very, very reasonable price.  Not to mention finding parts (when you really need them) from people that want to help more than they want to make an extra $.
