Ducati Recall - Multi 1200

Don't know if this was posted up or not, but for anyone owning a Multi 1200:
Ducati has issued a second recall notice for the new Ducati Multistrada 1200. This one relates to the engine stalling whilst the bike is stationary and the engine idling. Dealers will re-flash the ECU to take care of the problem at no charge.

If more recalls pile up for Ducati, it's gonna be the death of them. Stalling while idling? Really? You can't make a bike that idles consistently? In 2011?
Not to mention other well-known problems. Time for Ducati to get their poop in a pile and focus on R&D again.

Considering everything the bike does that isn't really a huge issue. It is better then them ignoring it and saying tough shit don't you think?

Ducati seemed happy with that answer when my 848 had the stalling problem.

Closing in on 20k for MSRP, it better damn well do everything, and excel at it.

My dealer was able to fix the stalling and rough running at 3,000 rpm issues with good old-fashioned tuning. I don't know if I'm going to go for the ECU flash or not.
Now the steering head issue and the useless ABS issue are worrisome, indeed.

Someone was drinking a little too much
and installed the wrong screw in the steering head. Funny enough this was a last year recall and my non-S wasn't on the affected list, but last week a letter for this recall showed up in my mail box. Sounds a bit like they couldn't figure out which bikes were affected and which weren't, so are just changing out the screw on them all.
I have the first ECU flash done which fixed the mpg readout, but not anything else. Still have the surging around 4k, but that is easily solved by just riding at 5k.
ABS reports are that you're better off switching it off lest you find yourself in the intersection or in the back of a car. Personally, I haven't triggered it as of yet, so no experiece one way or the other with the functionality of the ABS.
Mine has been fautless otherwise.

Drjones has already elaborated, but there's plenty about these and other issues on the Multi boards.
I love my MTS 1200 Touring and have not had some of the problems that others have reported. However, there have been some vexations with it.

I know. But it's less than many of us paid last year. I'd be quite happy to have a 2011 at that price.

I spent about an half hour on it around daytona beach this weekend. Everything was geling pretty good. 75 degrees, sunny, breeze, and the multi. Being 6'5", I'm not exactly a standard size rider, but the seating position seemed nearly perfect. Can't say I'd need to run out and change something right away.....perhaps get a taller screen?
I did some limited runs here and there, didn't really push it much, but what I did the thing seemed unflappable. The ABS caught me by suprise when I tested the brakes...totally forgot it had it until the pulsing started!
I rode a base model, which of course doesn't have the modes, adjustable suspenders, etc. I thought the bike was great, but I know if I buy a "base" I'll just have wished I bought the upscale one at some point.
The touring seems to be the way to go. Center stand, bags, heated grips = a better value than the carbon nose and belt covers (to me anyway).
IF I buy it, it's going to be one of those bikes I keep...for a LONG time. I might be jumping the gun a bit, but for the street, distance, twisties....seems like it's got it all.

Base model has the riding modes...just not the adjustable suspension.
