That is just the right combination of clutch clatter and exhaust loudness

I am also looking to set up the track challenge 999 vs Busa vs R1 ..... winner take all.
What do you think, maybe each of us put up like $500 with the best bike taking the prize.

You're going against an R1 and a Busa?

North Eastie meet anytime soon?  We've got a big enough group up in the Plano / Frisco area to do a miniature meet weekly or every other week.  I wanna see Jim's new ride as well.

Should this be a new topic?

Cool, I'll post something up tonight.

I just finished my first clutch fluid flush.  I was a little nervous but i nailed it pretty easily in about 20 minutes.

I'm sure I have a leaking slave cylinder for the following reasons:

First, my clutch fluid reservoir level has been steadily depreciating during my 9 months of ownership.  Dax points at it quite often and I tell him, "Ya ill do something about it sooner or later."

Second, while flushing the system I noticed three droplets that had fallen underneath the bike.  The trail led to the bottom of the slave cylinder housing.  I checked the bolts and everything was tight.  Looks like the seal has gone.

Any input?  I'll probably use this as an excuse to go with an aftermarket slave.  Recommendations?

You can easily remove the three screws that hold on the slave cylinder, and check the inside area for a leak.  You can also check the o-ring seal that goes around the push rod that pushes the clutch pressure plate.  I think that one is more for preventing motor oil from getting in the slave, but mainly look for clutch fluid in that area where there shouldn't be any.  Not sure if the slave piston has replaceable seals, although it should. I hear they are notorious for leaking, and is one of the reasons many people go to an aftermarket slave.

I'm one of the "many people" he is referring to. laughingdp All my Ducs have Evoluzione clutch slaves. Many other good aftermarket ones out there. I am sure they all work better than the stocker. Leaks or not they make clutch lever pull much better, probably 20-30% easier for sure. A lifesaver in a stop and go traffic jam. Reduces the arm pump and hand cramp to Jap bike levels! laughingdp waytogo [moto]

I shouldn't expect any fluid to come flowing out by removing the slave cylinder should I? (unscrewing the 3 mounting bolts)

Well, other than leaking clutch fluid.  Undecided

Not at all.  Should be quite dry.  The red o-ring keeps the oil from getting from the engine into the slave (and vise versa in your case  Smiley )
