I thought about Sharkskins too but I think for the money and finish I'd ask Lisa about the bodywork she just put on Rene's bike. Man that suit of plastic looks great!

Yep, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and fitment - no aggravation required on the install laughingdp  Straight Ducati knock-offs IMHO.  I'm not sure they're track day type things though; heavy as stock bodypanels  Undecided

I saw his bike at AMS.  Looks great but for the amount he's spent he'd be into a Augusta F4CC by Tamburini

Lisa, did you do the decals on that thing?

He bought it used with $18K in extras already on it, so I doubt he has that much in it

he stole it then because it has the carbon wheels on it.  that alone will set you back some $2k per wheel if I remember.

Nope, didn't do those decals.  All the gloss black bodywork on Rene's 1098 are after-market that he's using for track days.  I am (Concours Moto is) a dealer for the manufacturer.  They make replacement bodywork - pre-decaled or solid colors - for almost everything.  PM me if interested or stop by Motopia sometime  [moto]

I'm going to rant.  I have DirectTv and I set my DVR to record the Motogp in Malaysia.  Stoner was coming off a big win last week.
So I pop my popcorn and sit down to watch the race last night!  I hit play and it promptly says Do you want to Delete?   No recording.  A software glitch.  I"M SCREWED!  I threw popcorn all over the den and stormed out.  Then my wife made me come back and clean up the mess.
I'm beyond pissed!

I've had that happen a lot.  Now, we try to make sure the receiver is set on the channel we want to record beforehand. It's like the tuner wouldn't change channels when the record mode kicked on.

More high-tech bullshit. Really sorry because I have also been there. Wish I only had popcorn to throw! Lucky I haven't put a .45acp round through my tv set! I have been screwed by my Directv dvr a couple of times, even when I checked the "to do list". I'm thinking conspiracy! waytogo

There are a couple of things to do when recording from a DVR. First make sure your disk is not full. If the disk is full it will not record. Second if the program before the one you want to record goes longer than expected it will cut into your recording time sometimes even not even recording it at all. If you can set it to where you can record the program 'at any time, any day' the program comes on you will usually get the recording because it will most likely have a re-run on another day.

I have all the MotoGP and WSBK recordings from middle of summer to present if you'd like to schedule a watching party  waytogo

I searched all over DirectTv forums and this is an (very long) ongoing problem with them.  The most common scenario is that you are recording 2 HD programs at the same time that come from 2 different satellites.  Sometimes the software hiccups and records the one the tuner is on and the other gets nothing but the Delete now option.  The workaround for now is reset the DVR.  Great solution.  By then you have already missed the recording.
The previous race was great with Casey sliding both tires around corners and Rossi on his tail.   I looked at the MotoGp recap of this race and it looks like it was not close.  I'll not post the winner in case someone hasn't seen it.

Speed channel has schedule glitches that sometime confound my most careful programming attempts with my Verizon DVR. This is why I have a premium subscription to motogp.com, a Mac with a 20" Cinema Monitor, and a pair of wireless stereo headphones (so I don't disturb my wife when I'm watching FP1 or QP at Sepang at 2:00 AM).

The camera work on the Phillip Island MotoGP race was truly awesome. You really got the feeling of what it's like to race one of those marvelous machines. Oh, how I'd love to ride like Casey! HA!
