we had one of the Limited Edition Trans Am and boy do I miss that car.  The thing would haul ass with it's 454 and four-barrel carb.  Those were cars dammit, wild and teaching you real driving skills.  Sample picture but I wish my family hadn't sold it.

Ah yes, Redneck heaven indeed.  Well how about this:  1978 Pontiac Grand Safari Sation Wagon with the "vista" roof and hydraulic clam-shell tail gate...  Nine passenger and all the 454 four barrel goodness you could corral.  Holy $%#@ it's amazing I survived  laughingdp

Good times  Wink

Pfft.  I was riding in style in my '75 Merc Monarch with a 302:

Bought it from my uncle for 600 bucks back in the day.  It was hideous, but I think I'd still have it if my sister hadn't wrecked it.

I wished they didn't cost so much to restore these days.

its not too bad if you already own lotsa tools and have plenty of room to store it and work on it. Problem is, those two things are the really expensive parts.

Agreed (with both of you).

The '72 Mustang I had in college is parked at my grandparents' house in New Orleans just in case I ever have the inclination to restore it.  It would be one serious money pit...

and my dad is still hanging on to the '64 Merc Marauder he bought in '67.  That thing is a beast... It is currently spread out all across his garage, and has been like that for a few years now.  It was pretty fun learning to drive that thing... when I was 10... and was towing a boat trailer...  Jesus, I don't know how I didn't kill anybody!

my first car was a Pontiac 6000 for $1500 bucks and a blown engine.  Went next door to the junkyard and bought an engine which my Grandfather said I would install.  He sat there with his pipe and laughed his ass off.  I cussed and threw shit everywhere and knew then no Mechanic I am.
