Well, the new mill works.
I've heard horror stores of old machines that are great until they are moved and then have board or drive failures when repowered.
No issues
Although
. . .
When I was leveling the thing it walked off the jack screw pad
Using the little forklift that could, I got it back into place. . .
and it happened again
I may have a career ramming dumpsters for the Waste Mgmt
Turns out the pads have a hole through them, but the jack screws have nothing to fit the hole (and keep the machine in place when the screws are turned)
I milled pits for the screws to sit in and it worked great. Machine is damn near perfectly level. 1 graduation on the level is .0005" over 12"
I'm not off more than 1 in any direction.
I spent almost $800 on a vise for the thing this morning, and have put together a tooling package for the tools I'll still need. That will probably be $1500ish. After that the spending is done and hope fully I can make some money with it.

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

So I made a brake caliper piston for Pip's ancient Honda he's restoring.
I decided it would be fun to engrave his name on the back of it. The lighting is kinda sucky here, but it actually says "PIP" on the face of that piston
