That things awesome.
Wait till you see the upgrade. We're close on a pretty big job. My current mill is a 1989 vintage and starts to lose track of itself around 100 inches per minute of feed rate (basically it can't control the motion at the high feed and part geometry starts changing because of it. ) If it all works out the new iron will run 500-600ipm with a max possible feed off near 2000ipm. Cross your fingers for me. |

I can't remember if I have already posted this here or not but it's one of my favorites. It's a commercial for the Super Lathe in the 50's or 60's I'd guess. Geared towards the steel mills it's for big work taking big cuts.
Demo cuts start about half way through.
For reference, my big lathe will do a .250 radial depth of cut at 600 sfm and a .012" per rev feed in 300 series stainless and be happy about it.
The Super Lathe is on a whole other level.

I bought a new thing.
This is a new Okuma M560V vertical mill. I bought a seat of SolidWorks and a seat of SolidCam so we can program directly off solid models. It's make the beast with two backsing amazing.

This past fall the old Lincoln dealership next door to work was leveled with a couple of big ass track-hoes. It was tough getting anything done with that show going on. Might as well have been a bunch of hot strippers lol.  |

Latest shop acquisition-- Charbroil propane grill. Got it for nothing and bought new grates for it. Fired it up today and grilled part of a 12lb ham a customer gave me. This shop has never smelled so good. Never.  We're all fat and happy today |
