Who here has removed the passenger grab bars on their Monster?***I have***

I want more versatility in tail sections. Any implications besides possibly ruining the ability to carry a passenger? It's a 750, so passengers are out of the question for me.

Please give me your thoughts.

I have been toying with this idea since I bought my Monster, along with removing the passenger peg brackets.  Though I have one, I dont like the way the seat cowl flares to accommodate the rails.  If I did take the rails off, I'd make a new,  tighter looking cowl.


 The only downside might be resale down the road, but a passenger would be better off holding on to the rider anyway.

I kinda killed my resale by doing the following:

1) chopped airbox

2) chopped tail

3) clip-ons

4) ditched stock clocks

5) ditched stock headlight

6) will be ditching stock forks

7) more than likely non-factory paint

I will also be installing rearsets (or modifying the current rearset mounts and using an adjustable peg)

I think resale value is LONG GONE on this, unless someone REALLY loves this bike. I don't see me getting rid of this bike ANY TIME SOON, as I LOVE my freakin' MONSTER!!!

The grab bars are really useful for riding with a tail bag, and ultimatly required to properly secure most bags. I wouldn't cut them off.

Cut away if you'd like to, but may I suggest making the new cowl first?
If that project fails for some reason - you won't regret cutting the bag mounting rails.

Never mounted a bag on the back seat; I just use a back pack on rides that needed it.

I am considering the following: R6 seat, Swoopy Gixxer seat, or my own design. I have an R6 track seat cowl. It will need a proper R6 seat (cheap); however, I don't know how well it would fit the subframe on the Monster. I wanted to mock it up; however, it was virtually impossible due to the grab rails.

I think that Spidey has or had a bike with the grab rails removed.  I recall him stating that he regretted it.

since i'm rocking the mono monster too. fiance refuses to ride on it, and i've thought about cutting the handles off too. i have a cowl, but don't run it since i usually tie my work stuff down with a net.

+1 to cut rails off.

if worse comes to worse, buy another monster frame.

Dub- I hear you on the worst case scenario, but like I have said already, it ain't like I didn't kill resale already- rarely do you EVER get your mods back when selling off the bike. Furthermore, I have kinda taken this thing to the point of no return as far as going custom...

I am thinking the angle grinder comes out soon...

They were handy when I did track days.  

If you don't want them, why don't you go all the way, cut the frame and have somebody build you a bolt-on rear subframe with aluminum tubes?
