Brimo and co.

glad to back on the right channel...

so how does one adjust the ride height?

(the m1000 has adjustable height)....

go slow with the directions....not the most mechanical bloke out there (boy am I having fun with the exhaust!)

where do I look to see how much height I have to adjust on the bar?

cheers and thanks in advance

I will have a go at mine soon, might even ask the shop to do it tomorrow while it's having a service.
Might not go 20mm then, I'll half it and see what happens.

matty, i'd like to hear your reaction to the change; it will feel great around the city but it does make a bike nervous at speeds on a bumpy roads

Yes, definitely better in the traffic and slow stuff around town, a bit more skittish in the front on bumpy stuff but less roll around in the arse end. And as dukes are'nt the quickest steering of bikes in the first place not too bad.

Directions, look under the bike next to the shock and you will see a rod with thread and a nut on either end.
Measure the overall length. If you can't get a ruler in there, use a piece of string (yes, seriously!) and then measure it. Write this down for future reference.
Undo the nuts on either end (marked ten and 12 in the drawing) . Spin the rod and it will change length, measure again to see how far you have gone. maybe try 10 mm first. Tighten the nuts. Adjust your chain. try it out.

Will look for some pics and links and post em up

Oh yes don't forget the nut with the groove on it is a left hand thread,(righty loosey not lefty loosey)

Brimo,

That's great thanks for that, will go check it out now and see if I can manage this myself.
I'll go only 10mm and see what happens with that first off. Maybe even 5mm.

Thanks
Matty...

and me being a grumpy bastard, asked the moderator about the threadjacks and I was politely told to STFU and GTFO

I hope that's not the impression you got from my PM?

(I would have called that an _extemely_ polite STFU...)

'fraid so
I realise, having been using the net since it was powered by steam (early 90's) that you will always get threadjacks, so called "net personalities" stroking themselves etc.  but this site is getting out of hand, and I don't think it's just me complaining, I may be the only one that did it officially though.

and no further correspondence will be entered into on the subject  I will now stfu.

Brimo,

thanks for that.

those nuts are 12mm?

and you could get in and alter without exhaust removal?

I went downstairs to have a look at rod and nuts last night, tight bloody spot! Madalf is coming over this saturday - he's a bit smaller than me - I might push him in there!

the idea about the string is sheer brilliance.

Mines a single sided swingarm and high pipes, so access is pretty good from the lefthand side, not near the bike at the moment, but pretty sure the nuts were bigger than 12mm probably 17mm and were very tight.
