i will not let this weather lure me into a false sense of spring.

the winter gear stays out, and the constant distrust of anything that looks less than bone dry will continue until it's closer to 50 at night for a few weeks.

make the beast with two backsing winter....

Seriously, when i am 800years old i want to rock like Lemmy! it is a religion that requires lots of determination, drugs, and Marshall stacks.

I got my first ride of the year in yesterday. It hit 40 here in Illinois which after the -50 windchills felt more like a 60 degree summers day. That's one nice thing about a bike that's mostly aluminium, stainless and carbon fiber is that it wont rust the second it touches a salty snowy road. It does need a bath due to the tail chop which always seems to leave a rooster tail mark on the rear fairing.

We have had a pregnant dogin' winter in the Great White North. Just finalized plans to trailer to Daytona for Bike Week in March. Yes, I realize there's no twisties in Flo-Rida, but you can't exactly ride in the weather here either. It sucks having to sit the winter out!

supposed to be 48 here on friday might take it for a maiden voyage...gotta figure out a way to get it out of the garage and a steep hill covered in snow!

Temperature has nothing to do with our riding season in VT.

It's all about road condtions.

First the snowbanks gotta melt, they are prodigous this year.

My dirt road has to be reasonably stable for a bike (barely passable for a cage at times) thru mud season.

The roads are completely white when dry now, from all the salt, God we love our salt here.

But I'm loving winter right now, while the duc is waiting patiently for new shoes, tethered to it's battery tender, waiting to roar to life.

It was 57 here today when I went for a ride. Rode for about 2.5 hours, got home right at dark, temp was approx 45. Last 30 mins were terrible. Don't know why, I've ridden with the same gear down into the mid 30's and wasn't that bad off. make the beast with two backsing sucked.

gonna try to get it out today, any suggestions on how to get my bike up a steep hill covered in ice?
i was thinking of getting some wide planks and driving some spike through them, then riding over the planks
just picking up the one behind it and placing it in front ect....stupid?

can you shovel a small path up the hill or is it too long for that to be feasible?  that seems the simplest route...

its all ice not really snow anymore

i'd still try to dig out a path... or sand/salt it out...  your first method sounds a bit... iffy...  what i'm picture is you putting the bike on it's stand on a steep hill to move the next plank up... and then turning around and seeing the bike sliding back down the hill just as you set up the plank in front of it.  which would suck >.<

rode a friends bike a little bit Sunday.  That was fun.

I am too lazy to put on my battery on bike, lube the chain, change the oil and ride eventhough tommorrow is supposed to be in the low 60's.  I am going to wait till March when spring gets here.

besides, I hate to start the bike now in middle of cold season eventhough we are having few days that are warmer,  rather wait and defrost her first ...
