bought an 01 996 with a steering damper - never ridden a bike that had one.  now I REALLY WANT ONE on my monster but no idea what will fit it.  my monster is an 01 M900 - any suggestions on a damper?  side mount vs top mount? brand?  oh yeah, and i need some marchesinis for the girl too  [drool]

If you're lucky you'll be able to mount one under the lower triple.
It'll be hidden, which may or may not be a good thing...

I haven't looked, but I guess there are top mount kits for your bike. (?)

Best function, I've been told, is the side mounted dampers. I don't know if that's true, but the forces go through fewer links and the damper itself is longer (= better)

I believe Ohlins and Hyperpro make dampers for the M900.

as usual you guys have forgotten way more than i'll ever know about our beloved monsters. however, any thoughts on this ohlins vs hyperpro?  never heard of the latter and, obviously, i like that price better . . .  [roll]

I've seen the under the frame/triple mounts before, but could never find em... thoughts on how hard it would be to fit that on an '08 S2R?  Mounting on the top of the triple is out of the question (rizoma clipon / top triple set has no provisions) and I don't like the purse snatcher look....

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.  - HST

BellissiMoto

We offer dampers from pretty much everybody, but you have to check out the Bitubo options - http://bellissimoto.com/BituboDampers.html

There is just nothing I can find that performs better, longer, or is quicker and easier to adjust on the fly than the Bitubo dampers.

Ohh and here's a pic of the side mounted version attached to an M900:

I don't know how they are mounted. My guess it's a fork clamp to the left (in the picture) and some other invisible mounting point to the right. Maybe the horn and/or oil cooler makes it difficult on newer Monsters.

I think you should call MotoWheels to find out [thumbsup]

Agree on the purse snatcher thoughts, but I think it's possible to mount them the other way - not sticking out forward (like BellissiMoto's photo)

Here is a top mount damper.  Best money I ever spent on the bike IMO.  I thought I saw someone with an M900 with the top mount that had spacers on the triple clamps to make it work.

i also have a Bitubo. For me its ontop of the list as one of the must have parts. The damper really removes all the chitty chatter you get from riding on shitty roads.

slight threadjack, but are those mirrors rizomas?  been thinking about them, but i like how much i can see behind me with my bar ends (reverse retro clones).  how's the view with them on?  i was interested in these because they seem to be around the same distance and height as the reverse retros.

yea they are rizomas.

They are acceptable. The mirror actually sucks because it feels like it magnifys things which is pointless. In reality its a true 1:1 ratio, which doesnt help much, but they are wide enough to see a dcent amount of hte road.

My favorite in terms of view have always been napoleons with the CRGs coming in 2nd place. but these look cool and i head check anyway.
