Being a fan of design and folks who think outside the box and all that I really wanted to like this bike, what with it's oval section trellis frame, and Bimota pedigree and all that.

Seriously. It's bad. It's freshman year at design school bad. And it's not just one of those "oh, but when you see it in person it's awesome" bikes.

I've seen one. In person. And it's bad.

They managed to make a naked bike look like it was wearing a burqa.

yes yes YES. that thing is burqa'd up. all they need next to offend my senses is a bedazzler

I would say its "designed by someone who learned all they know about motorcycles from watching the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" bad.

there is a guy in our local Ducati club who has had several Bimota's over the years and he said that one was an electrical nightmare....he didn't even keep the bike a full year...

Love the burqa comment!!!

It reminds me of a vintage bike or scooter that had a similar integration of the tank into headlight, but I can find a photo of it (not knowing the name opr brand doesnt help).

The Ducati motor is a twin.

The Mantra has four exhaust cans.

I can only assume someone thought "You know, exhaust systems just don't weigh enough..."

And for added fun and/or post-whoring, here's a review of the bike in Czech.

Make the Google Translator for very good read times.

I like the Mantra because it's so wrong!

There was an article in Australian Motorcycle News in the nineties comparing the Mantra and Monster. In the article there is a picture of the bikes riding a country road along side by side. The riders were wearing a Batman and gorilla suit.
Guess which bike was ridden by Batman?

I'm still trying to get hold of that back issue. Cheesy

About a month ago, Beverly Hills Ducati had a Monster Bimota advertised on Craigslist.   It was badass.   I just looked, and couldn't find it.   I'd never heard of one, and can't finder another anywhere, I wonder if someone put this together and just called it that.  I stole this off that other Monster site.
As I recall, it was about $13 or $14k.
