I was slowly converting my S2R into the cafe racer type with low clip ons etc., and realised that I should just buy a Sportclassic1000S and be done with it.
They now sit side by side in the garage

Immediate differences are, the low clip ons on the monster are still higher than the Sport, the seat on the sport is really high and I'm on tiptoes at a standstill- so not for shortys! Traditional Ducati heavy clutch is tiring after years of the 800s light APTC clutch, and engine braking means I dont use the brakes as much as on the monster.
I haven't noticed any of the headshakes and unsettled suspension that others have reported but maybe the S is different enough from the unfaired bike. The power is very much more noticable on the 1000 cc engine though I think the 800 smoother, the extended reach to the bars means your arms are straighter with more weight on them and hitting bumps at low speeds can transfer through the arms as throttle movements and lumpy running, once your used to that you can easily compensate but it still catches me out now and then.
I'm still running stock pipes on mine though I'mm looking around for some nice ones-dont like the Termis as they look too 'modern' to me and they are stupidly loud.
Currently in the running are conti reps from  Keihan in the UK and Dennis Foran in Oz, and reverse cone megaphones from Road and Race in Oz.
I buy my bikes with the heart so dont care about everday practicalities, like comfort for instance. Do it!

DRKWNG, you got yours?!?!?  Congrats!   Reading this thread is totally making me fall in love with them...hopefully you sold a car instead of the S2R.  BIkes are waaaay more fun and much easier to store than cars.  "When times get tough, the most practical vehicles have to go"  or something like that, anyway, congrats and post  pics and review  when you get her!
Power   67.7 kw - 92 hp @ 8000 rpm Torque   67.3 lb-ft - 9.3 kgm @ 6000 rpm Classic
Power   70 kw - 95 hp @ 8000 rpm    Torque   94,1 Nm - 9.6 kgm @ 6000 rpm S2R
That's only 2.3 hp Diff in the power but a WHOPPING 26.8 Nm in Torque in the Same engine.
I don't think opening up a air box can do that i've take off the top of my air box on the 800 & it made a very small difference not a massive 26 on in Torque.
Any one know the answer i just come from a Ducati shop & the didn't even know that the Classic had different numbers  Shocked

You're mixing units. Your Classic torque value is listed in lb-ft, the S2R number is in Newton-meters.

94.1 Nm = 69.4 lb-ft.
91.2 Nm = 67.3 lb-ft.

that horsepower rating on the s2r is way off. when you talk about rear wheel horsepower the s2r has about 64 max. that is stock of corse. i had my s2r dynoed and with a leo vince 2into 1 and a marvin midpipe mixed with a pc 3 it turned out 69 horse and about 49 ft lbs of torque. so keep that in mind.  those numbers probably arent rear wheel and they seem a little inflated.

Hell your just mixed up in general, thsoe are S2R1000 specs.

the DS1000 from an S2R1000 and DS1000 from Sport Classic are the exact same engine. numbers should be the same.
