The previous rule said you had to be a Ducati rider to register but each Ducati rider could invite a "non Ducati" riding friend. That meant that half the bikes could potentially be other brands although it wasn't that bad in reality. Maybe the demand is now greater and they think a lot of Ducati owners are missing out. The original rule was probably designed to boost the numbers.

I think the speeders on the last two Turismos were a mix of bikes, not just the ring in's. And it was more of a problem in Tassie mainly because there are more towns on the route and therefore more residents to report it. They certainly cracked down on it after the first two days.

Lets hope it survives in some form but I am thinking of doing my own rather than waiting for the next one.

derbyed from a Facebook post of someone who I know to be a reliable source of information:

"Rumour has it (and a very reliable source) that the Ducati Turismo will NOT be held this year as (so Alison Fraser says) the Queenslanders have requested it be held off. I would have thought that it should be held in Queensland and it would help regenerate the economy up there. Am I the only one who is thinking Alison Fraser is using this as an excuse?"

No i don't think so H.
I had always heard that the next tourism was going to be in Noosa hills area so I'd say the excuse might well be valid.

I find it a bit strange that the area won't be able to handle in influx of tourists by October.  I would have thought they would welcome the income.

As for Turismo ...
But there was a group (one on an Aprilia and a couple of ... cough, cough ... Jap sportsbikes) that were downright dangerous on occasion.
.

Er... that Aprilia was'nt a orange (ey red) Tuono was it?

At a guess accomodation would be a premium as a lot of people have no houses.
And roads still out of action or not in good shape alot to do up there.
Some of the bannana benders here might have a better idea? Huh?

Honestly can't remember now Mick ... you'll understand when you get to my age.

Yep sounds like a bullshit excuse to me. Recently saw an interview with Anna Bligh and she said they need tourism and they need it now. They have had people from all over the world cancelling trips because of the disasters ... and it could become a crippling problem.

Three of their biggest tourist destinations (Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns) had little or no impact ... and remain open for business. The only reason I can see for the Queenslanders requesting it be held off was if they have personally been effected and may currently be unable to participate.

If you don't know what day it is ... which year is a real problem. Should have read 2012 - all rumour and supposition of course.

Phew.  That's much better.  Must be true if we both heard it.

I would say it's a pretty good rumour. My sources got it straight from the horses mouth but I'll wait and see what transpires, a lot can happen in 12 months.

Something good to look forward to anyway.

Would like to see Betty trying to get under the house.   laughingdp
