So I'm going to be doing a bunch of work that requires safety glasses but I hate wearing the 2nd-hand scratched up glasses the machine shop provides over my prescription glasses.

The thing is my employer pays for two pairs of lenses annually so I'm looking into getting a set of prescription safety glasses. So the question is where can I get some old-school, classic safety glass frames, with side inserts, etc. (The modern ones are ugly, IHMO)

I've tried google, but no luck.

Anyone?

I've got a pair of Navy BCG's you could have.

Indefrigginstructible.

Universal-fit side shields will run you ~$10.

They're surprisingly comfortable, and offer a really wide, clear field of view.

But yeah, they're pretty hideous.

I highly recommend cable type temples...they dont slide off your face.  I used to get them for free from my employer, way back when companies actually had nurses on staff!  Though I didnt actually need them for work, they were great under a helmet as I never had to push them back up my nose while riding.   As recently as 10 years ago, my optometrist could get these and I would have my Rx sunglasses made with these frames.  Also great on the boat as they wouldnt come off my face.  Indestructible...I had one frame for over 15 years, just kept updating the Rx

I just dug through a drawer and found a pair!  Brand appears to be AOSafety, F98/9900, rated Z87-2.  IIRC, they are not expensive and side protectors are available.

Depending on what you need....

I'm using a pair of bifocal safety glasses, they're off the shelf at the local hardware store.

A ton of different ones here:

The Army issued me much cooler glasses...

But then again, we're just cool like that.  Cool

I've gotten much nicer glasses issued to me since then. Wiley X's, for instance. But that's what they gave me in boot camp.

I have Bolle Hurricane safety specs with polarised lenses in one pair and clear/transitions in the other pair, I'm sure you could get these in the U.S.
I pay about us$15 for a pair and then get my optometrist to fit prescription lenses.

These are nice, but far too attractive for my ugly mug.  Grin

Like I said, I'm looking for something retro / old-school, although once concern with the vintage frames is "how safe are they"?

The BCGs are looking more and more like a good option...
