No bafflers/running lean?
«
on:

I recently installed mivv gp cans on my 620, and have removed the bafflers
(ahhh the sound...) But all this talk about running lean is kind of making me nervous.. Do I have anything to worry about? Can I ride a 620 with stock fuel mapping and open cans?
Thanks'

as i recall, the Common Wisdom was that you could open the exhaust, or open the intake (but not both), and not be required to richen up the fueling.
if all you've done is gone to louder/free-er flowing exhaust, then i imagine you'll be fine. i didn't get popping on my 900 till i opened up the exhaust (aftermarket pipes), and the intake (no airbox lid).

You should be fine.
-Like zarn said, its usually when you open up the airbox (in addition to the exhaust) that the lean symptons appear, AFAIK...
-Also, I noticed that my bike (Full Termis w/no baffles, open airbox) will "pop" during downshifting if I'm running 89 or lower octane (93 appears to be fine), so that may be something to watch for as well, depending on what grade of gas you typicaly run...

You should be fine. As said keeping the stock intake and adding slip-ons shouldn't cause a lean condition.
As far as popping - you can get some popping even with the right fueling. On my former 620 I started to get some popping on decel/engine brake after a bit. It had high mount slip ons and it turned out that one of the s-pipes had gotten a little loose. Tightened it up and popping stopped.

-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes. Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice' Will probably just leave the fuel mapping stock for now.. Haven't heard any popping on down shift yet so that must be good!
