The wife and I are going to check out Portland next month on the way to Seattle. Not that any of you know first hand, because you live there, but who knows maybe you do...Where would be a cool place to stay down town. I don't really want to spend more than $160 a night so $400 a night places are out. Mostly I'm looking for a nice place with location, location, location. Any recommendations?

[Edit] So like this place, is this by anything?

Go with Lucia. I liked it there and it is next to almost all of Portland stuff.

I was looking at this place too.

I hear it comes with a S4Rs in the underground garage at no extra charge.  Grin

I haven't stayed there but I've eaten there many times.  The food is excellent.  They also have a Cacao chocolate shop right in the hotel, one of our local chocolate shops.

Try a B&B.

Heron Haus is the closest to downtown.

Otherwise, use priceline, tons of empty hotel rooms in Portland.
