i'm not sure i see that really 'flowing' with the theme.
then again, if it could be clear-coated with tint in the clear to closely match the ram swingarm, that might be pretty nuts.
oh, i didnt mean for arrick's bike, i meant that orig bike in jvax's thread. arrick's would def need something else.
and really... if you're going to go as far as arrick has gone, i would just go ahead and gold plate the tank if he went aluminum. and then do a darmah inspired look on it after in black. also, gold plating it would def take care of any issues with corrosion. that being said... gold plating aluminum is a bit more annoying... but hey, if you're going to go this far, go all the way haha

Not the best resolution to illustrate the work, but here are a few pics from the same shop.
M900 alum tank.
SBK 916/996/998/748 tanks.
SBK 848/1098/1198 alum tanks. 3 different shapes/sizes.
You can see more here:

(in Japanese though)

So, I decided to take the “do-it-yourself” theme all the way through to paint... This is my first time with anything other than a rattle can, so I’m hoping for the best... Here are some in progress shots while I wait for the base coat to cure:

I hate to rain on your parade
but base coats don't cure.
If you wait to apply clear you lose all adhesion.
HOK is meant to be applied wet on wet on wet. They recommend applying clear after 15 minutes.
Just sayin'.l

Sand it and try again, you should be a pro when your done.
I took auto body and paint in college and this is something I would take on. Its not like your painting the family car.
More updates please.

I am no painter. Everything I try to paint ends in disaster. This is why I pay people to paint stuff. Good luck.

The family car is easier IMO.
Arrick...if you sand and repaint, try not to sand through the clear. The clear can lift from fresh color.
If you can get away with it, you can sand the clear with 800 wet and just re-clear.

All that money spent on everything else, I'd just get a professional paint job that will look fantastic. Maybe that's just me though.
