I haven't decided when, but I probably won't make the DIMBY. I'll be heading for Santa Maria - sister lives there. I'm coming from Utah.

Santa Maria is only about 75 miles from Santa Barbara...

Just say'n...  Wink

Unless you want to ride one of the most fantastic roads in California, then it will take longer.

Take the 166 East out of Santa Maria.
Then turn right at the 166/33 junction and head south on the 33 towards Ojai.
As you pass Lockwood Valley Rd. and the Ranger Station/Fire Camp, get ready for 30+ miles of amazing twistyphonic happiness.  [moto]
As you get into Ojai, fill up at the 76.
Then turn right and head West on the 150/33.
Continue on the twisty 150West until you hit the 101.
North on the 101 into Santa Barbara.

That will take you a few hours more...  Cheesy

The 33

In case you needed some incentive...  Evil

Thanks! I'll check it out.
I grew up in SM and didn't know about this. I'll have to map it out. I've been east on 166 several times, on my way to College in Ut years ago, but that was in a cage and I hated the section between when you break out of the coastal range and Arvin.

There's a lot of great roads out there.

Yeah, that long, interminably straight section of the 166 before the 33 sucks. Once you get on the 33, there's another 4-5 miles of pin straight road before it gets really interesting!   Evil
