Termi ECU & Air Filter Question...?
«
on:

Hey all,
I'm starting to get acquainted with my new 2006 M620ie. I bought the bike this week, second hand with 15,000kms on it. The old owner had Termignoni's fitted, apparently the ECU and Filter that come with the slipons are both installed, but she went back to the standard cans as she had noise dB related issues... So now I have the Termis and sure as shite down care about the volume! Going to fit them tomorrow, but I wanted to check to be sure the Termi filter/ECU is actually fitted. I have searched and searched but cannot find any info on checking the ECU on a 620. I found this site with a guide for a 749...
http://www.ducatisti.co.uk/forum/ducati-999/5368-diy-how-change-ecu-749-999-a.html
Wondering if its in a similar spot on the 620, or if anyone has any tips on checking it? I have had a quick look at the air filter, what it discovered is that I have no idea how to tell if its standard or the Termi version! I had a look and it did seem to say Ducati on it, so I figure perhaps its just the stock standard? Is there a color difference or any way to tell?
Other than those two things the bike is a dream! I'm currently doing a bit of TLC to it, as I do with all new bikes. Replace oil/filters, check everything, clean everything etc. Only issues are that I don't have enough bloody allen keys, and that I don't have a service manual! I'm used to the Jap bikes... Anyway thanks to anyone for any help!

Can't see the photos on that site w/o registering... But it'll look like a black plastic rectangle with two large ports where parts of the wiring harness connect. I *think* *think* the stock ecu on a 620 says megnetti Marelli - but I'm really not sure. What did the Previous owner happen to do with the other ECU? They are worth a couple hundred bucks..
As far as the filter - stock is a paper medium. The DP or K&N or BCM etc filters are oiled cotton gauze supported by wire mesh.
If it hasn't had the cam belts replaced at that age, they need to be

a couple thing that will tell you pretty quick, the ecu will be located near the battery on the right hand side if you were sitting on the bike, if its the dp ecu it should say 620 race on the side.its directly above the fuses and will have two big connectors on it,they are big so you cant miss it. the filter like stated before should be a reddish color and not made of paper. i would take it in to get serviced anyways, it will give you much needed piece of mind, alot of people do this type of mod and dont bother to get thier bike set up after (tps reset, throttle boddies synced, ect.)
there is a picture of what it should look like here...about 4 or 5 pics down..

Awesome, thanks for the replies guys. I'll have a look for them shortly. And to answer your question Panda, no, I'm not sure where the stock ECU is! Might get in contact with the seller again and see if I can track it down. Be good to have it with the stock cans.
Thanks again,

Alright, now I'm really confused
Had a good look at the filter and ECU this morning, and came to no conclusions...
The filter is orange trimmed, and wire supported, but it also looks like it could be the stock one. I took a photo in the hope that someone on here might be able to confirm if this is the stock 620ie filter, or the performance one... Pics Below...
Other than the filter, I've not got too far with the ECU either! From what I can see, it must be the stock ECU. If thats the case I sure hope the seller has the performance one that came with the pipes! It does not say "Race 620" or anything on it, and it is a Magnetti Marelli. The text on it is as follows...
IAW 5AM.BS 61601.262.04 (top line)
IAW 5AM.BS/HW610/2219-DD07 (second from top)
999 Ducati020 (Last line)
I took some snaps of it as well in case that helped anyone identify it...

If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear em
Cheers all,

Air filter is paper, looks like OEM, definitely not DP. The computer, I'm not sure since it is possible the DP Race label fell off, but from the look of the other labels I would be suspicious.

Cheers for that. I think you're probably right on both fronts, they both do seem stock. No one knows if the DP CPU is made my Magnetti as well? I'll have to get on contact with the seller! She was adamant they were both fitted... Pipes are probably not a lot of use without them!

Ahhhh, I see what you mean't by the possible missing sticker then! I don't suppose there is any way to check what program mine is running other than taking it to a dealership? The only other sticker I saw was one with a code "2218PG18", that didn't seem to mean much tho!...

yup that ecu is stock. unless the label fell off. you can get the ecu reflashed to dp specs for around 200 bucks, the filter is around 60 i think. so for about 300 you would be set up for the termis. is it a full system or slip ons? also dont forget you got get the tps reset and the price varies from dealer to dealer, or you could buy the software for another 200 and then you could probably sell it to someone here and make most of your money back on the software

Well slip ones alone will do a little bit for you in the power department, at little bit. One nice thing though is that the tend to free up the feel of the engine.
But, to get the most power gains, more air and more fuel is needed. That's where an open topped air box + high flow filter and some sort of not-stock fuel management comes in.
On my 620, I had a power commander to do the job of adding fuel to the mix.
I hope you get this sorted out.

i didn't think they made a dp 620 ecu, or was there one that came with a different fuel pressure reg. i forget now. never saw one.
anyway, the 965xxxxx part number is a dp ecu. std # start with 2861 or 2864 or something like that. ask a dealer what that part number comes up as.
