awesome, second person ive seen do that. if you dont mind, what did it run you? 800 for the arm and 400 for the wheel?

800 for the swingarm, 700 for the rim. Plus longer brake line and other misc oem parts you may need such as the plastic pieces that mount/route the brake line and speedometer line to the underside of the swingarm. Mine didn't come with this :/

Extremely loud, not smooth, VERY lean (= engine-damaging heat), loosing power.

The Boom Tubes are not just straight pipes.

Could you elaborate?

Cut pipes....
Almost like no pipes at all - extremely loud
Exhaust will escape too easily and there won't be enough fuel in the cylinder to cool down the head/valves. (= damage)
A four stroke engine needs exhaust resistance to run well - if it doesn't have that, it won't be smooth and it will lose power.

BoomTubes....
There is some resistance and sound damping, which makes them much better than cut pipes.

(more or less accurate)

From what I gather there is thin to zero baffling in the boomtubes...and it seems that there are a number of ways to baffle and/or provide back pressure to straight pipes...not trying to be contrary just honestly curious because the boomtubes look awesome but there doesn't seem to be much more to them than than what straight/cut pipes plus some exhaust tips would provide...

Maybe you're right.
I was talking about straight/cut pipes with no tips.

I think Boomtubes look cool.

I also think that this cool almost certainly comes at a cost to power.  Although I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Anybody?

laughingdp  If you're really concerned about power, you have the wrong bike.

I have the airbox off my bike and I have Boom Tubes.  I think I can feel a little less power on the top-end.  So what?  It's a streetbike and it'll hit 100mph in short order.  You really don't need more than that (let alone that much) for a streetbike.

If you want top-end power, get a GSXR-1000.  With a little tuning it'll smoke most any Ducati in the lineup.   Smiley

I'm not concerned at all about making absolute max HP, very happy with what I already got  Cool.

Just sayin' that perhaps boomtubes cost a little power....

Seems like you think so too.

They make make a pony or two less, but there's a significant reduction in weight, which I think may more than offset this.  Actual testing hasn't been done (that I know of) to see how it stacks up on the dyno.  I wish I could test it, but I don't have easy access to one
