Real wheel steering at 50+ mph would be crazy.

I never respected my Big Wheel after the Green Machine came out. I can still remember the commercials.  IIRC the commercial was filled with a lot of crazy power slides.

35 years ago. I can see it like yesterday. Pedaling as fast as I could then pulling one and pushing the other and skidding out of control. Good times.

That's it.  applause  That second slide is awesome.  Look at how his leg flies off the petals. I was 8 in 1978, so I guess I was the intended customer.  Never had one though.  I retired my Big Wheel after I wore out the wheels and went straight to bikes.   Undecided   I missed out on the Green Machine.

I had a big wheel too. Was really sad when the front wheel wore out and split in half.

What's the point of the cat in that commercial?? "I can haz big wheel??" LOL
