696 speedo cluster question

Hi all,
I recently started to make some updates to my '10 696 in prep for a multi-day road trip coming in July. One of the things I upgraded  (well, it remains to be seen if it truly is an upgrade) is to swap the mini fairing with a Givi wind screen. After the swap, I realized that by removing the mini fairing, the backside of the speedo is not well-enclosed - meaning if I were to look closely through the Givi, I can see the wiring harness and stuff behind it. Should I be concerned about moisture/rain getting in there and toasting it? Should I be looking for a back cover for it?

Thanks for any/all advise!

Patrick

If you bought you 696+ new from a dealer, they should have suppied you with the non-screen type speedo lower cover.  Its just a piece of black plastic... or you could buy a cool CF one from Jeff at Monsterparts..

Yep it should have come in the box with all your manuals and paperwork and a couple little screws for the cover.

Thanks for the responses. I will have to check with the dealer. This probably will not end well....  [bang]

Like Enzoman says, before you rip into your dealer check your box of crap that they handed you when you got the bike.  If you dont have it, they owe you one.  Simple as that.  Let us know how you go.

When my bike was at the dealers I asked the service guy and he ran upstairs and found one and installed it there and then. I'm not sure if he was supposed to but I was pretty happy with it.

That's one of the benefits of buying a Ducati over a lesser bike from a motorcycle type superstore.
