That video is insane, holy shit!!   Shocked

On I-40 once I saw a ~6' 2x4 fly off the back of an 18-wheeler.  I was pretty far behind early on a Sunday morning when there was little traffic, but it flew what looked like 30' in the air before landing smack dab in the middle of the highway.

I had a pitch fork fly thru the air once. I was driving towards it and could only pray that it did not hit the windshield. It hit the top of my truck. Still freaks me out.

Knew a guy who had a wheel and tire come through his windshield after bouncing over the concrete divider. Luckily it hit the passenger side.

Went to high school with a guy that that happened to. He's alive, but the rest of his immediate family who were in the van with him didn't fare so well.

I'd have to think an impact like that might be lethal, not to mention the crash it'd induce

Ask fastwin. I don't think the turkey was coming at him, but it probably weighed more than a 2x4.

As for the video? Yes. It's brown trouser time. Lotto ticket time, too.

I have had to duck out of the way of a bird on my motorcycle before.  Maybe it wasn't going to hit but but it sure felt like it was going to.

My grandparents were following behind a truck towing a fiberglass boat once.  The kind you would go out hunting ducks in.  The boat came off the trailer, flew up in the air, over their car almost hitting them.  When it hit the ground a piece of fiberglass shot off and slashed their tire.  They were so lucky it didn't go into their front windshield.

As for the First video with the 2x4 posted.  Someones video response said she was filming because those two trucks in front of her were messing with each other.   If I saw something like that I would back the hell off.  Don't need to be caught up in their stupid shit.

thats like something out of final destination...

I was on the 101 last summer and saw an accident in the oncoming lanes.  One end of a pvc pipe was sticking out of the windshield and the other end was sticking out the back of the driver's head rest.  Someone got lucky that day.

Yeah, I would like to have my fowl vs helmet interface on video. Although I wouldn't be able to get my wife to watch it. Tongue Dumbass kamikaze bird! bang head I'm probably the only person to cut a full size wild turkey in half with an Arai Corsair. laughingdp Just glad it wasn't a 2x4. That would have done a bit more than 4 crushed neck vertebrae. I'll let some one else try that trick.

I've only splatterd a small bird with my helmet and that darn near kncoked me out.  I wouldn't want to take a big bird like that to the head!

Monster Dave, a similar incident happened in a ralley race not long ago. Driver was torn up pretty bad, but lived.

I've had a few boards and things fly up when on the bike.  So far I've mostly been able to avoid them.  I had one plank hit my hand when riding the TL - made me wish for barkbusters.  I got my hand mostly out of the way so no major injury, but it whacked the bar hard and IIRC tore up the bar end a bit and front brake lever.

so you completely missed it in your car, but it woulda knocked you off your bike?  Grin

Just clearing the roof of the car (a '99 Corvette) would have put it just about the center of my chest on a motorcycle.

good lesson why not to tailgate on your bike.  I see a lot of examples of people staying to close to vehicles around here.

mitt

I don't even follow, let alone tailgate.  I would have long ago split lanes or something to get ahead of vehicles like that.
