So, the airbox elimination bracket project is slowly winding down with 18 board members having bought one, the model being a success, and the final production order in the system... So now we are all just sitting back and waiting for the delivery  drink...

Myself and Ryan are thinking of designing something else to provide to everyone out there.... There are several ideas we have been throwing around and wanted to get some input on something you all would want to see made, re-done, or improved.

Today I was playing around with the idea of making a lower triple... Designed this in about an hour.




So... any input or ideas of what you might wanna see made?

a couple thoughts

1, brake line bracket
2, beefier material is needed, lower triples should be at least 3 bolts in top to bottom depth. If you're not making it bigger/lighter than stock it's not worth it.
3, which fork size is this for? Stock, Ohlines, SBK, adjustable? Spacing?
4, steering stops?
5, why not a full set of triples, with adjustable offsets? If you're going to try undertaking this, it seems like it is worth it to go all the way?  Stock is 30?, maybe 28/30/32  (this may be more difficult and require more time to make work than it is worth)

I prefer the flat across the front look personally, more similar to the speedymoto style bottom triple, super beefy, but still light

Just throwing ideas into the pool for if you decide to go this route.

I don't think I'ld be interested in this, unless they offered adjustability somewhere, the stock is pretty beefy already -- much beefier than the S*R had -- (yet heavy), however I am impressed with the work you guys are doing, and like supporting it!

I think other shops are doing this sufficiently as not to get into this part

now parts they are not making...

fuel cap with bolts for mounting tank bags with adaptors
lightweight center stand


I'm sure people can come up with others

A ride height adjuster.   A shock clevis with a long bolt end,  along with spacers to adjust ride height might be valuable to some, especially 696ers.

Thanks for the input guys. Ryan is out of town for the week, but when he returns we are gonna try to pick something and work on it.

Just curious, you guys using a 3-axis CNC or a 5, or even a 6? Do you have access to a CNC lathe as well? What CAD/CAM software are you using?

That triple model is a good start, but it looks a bit crude. What are those ridges on the inner fork bores for? If you want to do triples, you are going to have to do something that differentiates you from the other firms that make triples. From your model it can be observed that you need to lighten it up quite a bit. Visit Truckinduc's thread and see the triple he made. Perhaps making it look more trick and less crude is the direction you should go with it, maybe come up with a more unique lightening design. You'll need a stem also, which is where the lathe comes in. Investigate using 7068 aluminum for all of it.

I've made a bunch of stuff for my bike with a buddy's 3-axis, soooo much fun to play with. Major disappointment when you screw up. Practice on machineable wax before you go to the aluminum.

There are a couple of shops we have been working with that are doing the machine work. Not sure on their exact equipment but both have been making motorcycle parts for some time. One was introduced to us by motowheels, another is run by a guy who has probably had 20 different motorcycles and has made numerous parts for them.

The triple I put up is a very crude one that I designed up in about an hour. It's NOWHERE near a finished design. But, it was just an example of some of the ideas we were thinking about and that we were somewhat capable of designing some parts through CAD...

We are nowhere near experts, but the bracket we made inspired us to try something different and we enjoyed the process of designing something so we were gonna give it another try.

its a little blocky.plain. i agree with raux, there are other irons that have not been put into the fire anywhere.
