Alternative footpegs for S4RS? - Oberon 'Racing' billet pegs
«

Hi,
The stock pegs on my S4RS really don't seem all that 'grippy', especially if you're hanging off the left had side of the bike.
It's bad enough trying to get a good foot hold with the right foot with the pipes stuck right where your heel needs to be, but for some reason, I simply don't feel that secure on the original pegs.
I've seen some 'Oberon' branded billet pegs that look like they'd be better, but was keen to hear if anyone had any experience with them, knew where I could grab a bargain deal, or had any alternative suggestions on other brands?
The placement of the pegs is not an issue so much, so I'm not after a full set of replacement rearsets.

the oberons are pretty good. i like them. monsterparts.com, you retain the fold up feature which i like a lot.
alternatively you can skuff up the pegs with a file and dremel.

Dan I've recently installed Oberon Touring foot pegs on my SF, the quality and fit are 1st class and the fact that they are nearly an inch longer makes it more secure plus the grip is exellent...
I'm so impressed that I've now decided to fit them on my S4RS as I dont have the passenger pegs so will only need one pair (I'm a cheap Charlie)...

Thanks for the feedback, this is the stuff I was after.
Just curious though, with the pegs being "nearly an inch longer", partiicularly with the 'Touring' ones, do they scrape at all when leaned over?
I ask as I have a habit of getting the toe scrapers on my boots down a few times when out for a blast. If the pegs were an inch longer, I'd imagine they may also get a little close to the ground, or is that complete rubbish (A.K.A. wishful thinking)?
One other thing, was there a reason you went for the 'Touring' pegs, rather than the 'Racing' pegs?

I actually used the LSL pegs.
http://www.spieglerusa.com/controls/foot-pegs.html
They have the stock length choice and their racing peg which is shorter, which is what I chose. Much grippier. They also retained folding feature.

I had the Oberon's on my S4R and had to trim them to fit. I also lost the fold-up feature. Mine's an 06, just thought I'd let you know.

Comes in a few colors.. black, red, yellow, while, blue
it will adhere well to the peg surface and is grippy. you can also use truck bed paint. remove from bike and tape it off to paint.
it will chew up a bit as you're using it. remove and repaint. one spray can will last you 10-15 years.

Well, Thanks for all of your feedback & thoughts. I decided to go with the Oberon, 'Racing' style pegs.
These looked agressive enough for what I wanted, yet the measurements were the same as the ones I had on the bike (80mm).
The fact is though that when they're put on the bike, they're at least 20mm longer than the standard ones, when you factor in the mounting piece. Which, on my bike is a blessing.
The bloody side pipes on the right hand side make it difficult to get a good grip.
These look & feel great. Have not had the chance yet to test them on the street, but I'm sure they'll be a million dollars compared to the stock ones.
