Max it is so easy even you can do it
If your worried about the laundry bucket find another recepticle as it does stain it a little.
Or just don't tell the missus and act surprised when she shows you the stain.
Remove covers.........you will need help with this
call Rob nah easy just lift the tank.
Degrease the covers really well then soap n water then I rubbed them down with metho
Purchase two bottles of liquid RIT black dye boil the kettle have another glass of metho
Pour the boiling water over the covers just enough so they are under the water , chuck in the dye.
Have a good lie down as the metho
will now be effecting your eyesight and fine motor skills.
Leave them overnight , put on some gloves ,wash them well in cold water then a rub down with WD40
Voila nice black covers .........but a nasty metho hangover.

Well in order to beat that filthy "Pretentious" Ducati at concourse next weekend, I figured that having the handlebar mounts still on the triple after converting to clip-ons probably isn't the best idea.
So I took to my triple with a hacksaw and files, and after a few hours of work (and really sore shoulders - I'd kill for a decent backrub) got to the picture shown.
Here's what they looked like originally:
Here's what they look like today:
There's an intermediate step where I painted them, but I wasn't happy with the finish (you could still see the edge of the bar mounts if you held it at just the right angle in just the right light), so I removed all the paint and used a linisher to ensure there's no line.

Nice work Suz ? Go get em
But I hate to rain on your parade but from what I understand the Judges are awarding points
for the bikes with the highest kilometers in best ORIGINAL condition.
That rules me out due to stumpy tail mod. Precious is in original condition without mods in very good
condition + high kilometers .
For your sake I hope they take points off for after market decal/stickers as last count Rob has some where
in the vicinity of 22,000 stickers

I know you're probably not looking for OTHER things to do Suzy... but now would be an ideal time to drop those gauges.. Top triple is already off.... Just Sayin'.

Hey Suzy that's a bit harsh calling poor old Teffs bike "Pretentious"
Don't worry Teffs got a 4v. so keep up the good work and give the 2valvers a shot though it could be tough if six95 shows up or Andy and his lovely s2r.

Matty v won the 4v class in 09 with a tail chop, against Big t's sugar no tail chop so don't be put off, cleanliness is the trick
Yeah yeah i actually removed 6 stickers today
still leaves me with alteast 20

Purchase two bottles of liquid RIT black dye
Dez - looking at the post in the other forum it looks like I'm going to need three bottles of black and one of green.
The stuff is like $4USD per bottle in the states and the cheapest I've found it for here is around the $10 mark before shipping!
That being said, I should be able to do about 4 sets simultaneously... anyone else want some blackened belt /sprocket covers!?

I'll show ya on weekend why I can't. My clipons move the controls in as well as down and forward, so the brake lines just barely scrape under the gauges.

Fire Sale
AS A GUIDE BIKE BIKE HAD A LITTLE FIRE JUST UNDER THE SEAT AS YOU CAN SEE FROM
THE PICS IT WAS A WIRING FIRE AND IT DID NOT CAUSE MUCH DAMAGE AT ALL,
WIRING HARNESS/ BATTRERY WILL NEED REPLACING, SEAT WAS ALL BURNT,
TANK ONLY GOT A LITTLE FIRE TO THE REAR SECTION AND SOME BURING TO PAINT AROUND THAT AREA.

Pity about the "can not be registered for the road" part.

Well I'm shitting myself ATM!!
My old 750 is running like a dream!! No, I have not done a service, carb balance, nor even a timing check!! Not even changed or even cleaned the spark plugs!!
And the Putana is running like a swiss watch, all by itself!
No popping and farting at steady throttle in top at 60kph(Normal), no snatching at lower speeds, absolutely nothin'!!
And its been like this all this week!
The biatch is always entertaining, and you just dont know what mood she is going to be in on any given day, heh (Thats why its a SHE
)
But the last time something ran THIS well all by itself it shit itself, so I am very, very worried! But Lovin' it!
But waiting for the axe to fall!
Think I'll go for a ride and enjoy my contrary, slutty, cantankerous "never a dull moment" old girl!!
Hey Big, Does your 7fiddy have an err, umm "Character" all its own??
