ride report:
well I finally got my ride on an 848....and my legs fit in nicely actually...which was my main concern.
random thoughts:
It's a Ducati; beauty and speed combined but you do have to suffer for your art, at 110kph in 6000rpm she started to speak to me....anything under and she seemed quite sleepy and unfused by it all. She was surprisingly rideable at 40kph although the suspension seemed to get overwhelmed by the corrugated concrete on the main roads. corners, not surprisingly she's built for high speed, full involvement corners with rider input and great feedback. To be ridden with passion. Anyone going cafe cruising with this is an idiot, the bloke who commutes to work and parks next to me....is an idiot....this thing is designed for high speed work around a track really I just can't see it singing anywhere for long and you still having a license in one piece. My wrists hurt, my leg's burned....leg room was great and the seat was surprising good, comfort and support. Riding next to my monster....phark she sounds the business....this one sounded asthmatic, like all beasts shouldn't be allowed off the showroom floor without a new exhaust. Lovely gearbox, light feel at the lever and strong definite feel at the pedal, a delight, neutral was easily found on all occurrences.....didn't miss the dry clutch one bit!
Hoped on mine and OMG, the torque and shear brutality of the 2v engine had me grinning from ear to ear as I ripped around the streets, her angry growl reverberating from the city streets....the monster is a city beast (that loves the mountains) whilst the superbike is really track bred and born and for me are a fantastic animal in the wrong environment. So I'll have an 848 in my summer residence in Tasmania and my monster for the mainland!

So all this talk of professional bullshit has me thinking about a few words I put together about our little trip earlier this year. Anybody interested in me posting it up?
I tried to keep it brief and predominantly based on our bike related observations but, well ... I tend to carry on a bit, so there is a fair bit of crap.
Should I post up a thread, post in instalments or shut up and keep it to myself?
Alrighty I have been pretty slack with this but with a busy end to the working year and general grumpiness brought about by shitty riding weather while I am off work and the Boss isn't I just havent been motivated.
So I will start a new thread, post up the first instalment and see how we go. Just be mindful that it is a bit of diary more than anything and many of you have probably heard most of it already. But if you have any questions ask away.
